Hello all, Just received my 361 and 440 kits from huztl. i opened the box and it appears nothing has been damaged in shipping. going to open all the packages in a video. This will be my build thread. To start off here are all the OEM parts i ordered. Heres some Stihl P/N's for the 361

Seal Kit: 1135 007 1050
Intake Manifold: 1135 141 2200
Wrist pin: 1135 034 1500
Circlips: 9463 650 1100
PTO crank bearing: 9523 003 4266
Flywheel crank bearing: 9503 003 0354

also going to use an OEM 3/4 wrap handlebar
FYI: Stihl OEM Decomp valve: 1128 020 9400
Flywheel thread pitch is M8x1 and Clutch is M12x1 Left hand. Info if you would like to make a crankshaft installation tool.

Now that i have the crank i should be able to figure out the thread pitch for both sides so i can make an instalation tool. if anone has any extra advice i would love to hear it all. I also have a sevice manual and IPL for the 361. Should make the build go 10 times easier!
Thanks in advance,

Well started the build tonight. Got a little anxious and tried the hot cold method and everything went really smooth. Crankshaft lobe clearance to the crankcase was .046. Using OEM seal kit. Went to install piston and cylinder to check squish and DOH!! They sent a 12mm wrist pin instead of an 11mm!!. Going to send Huztl and email but in the mean time I'm going to wait for the OEM pin I ordered from my dealer. Video coming soon as well. I can get started on installing the fuel tank so I'm prepared for vacuum/pressure test.

The cases looked real good. No corrosion anywhere. All holes drilled and tapped. Using 1184 and planning on a no base gasket build. Crankshaft was less then perfect. Casting wasent near the quality of my farmertec 440 crank in the other kit.

Well it went to hell in a hand basket quick. I started realizing a whole bunch of parts were missing, buffers, oil pump, screws, bar studs, and the list goes on and on.... Started going through the 440 kit to figure out if anything was missing from it as well.. Found almost all of the missing parts from the 361 kit in the box with the 440. All I can tell that I'm missing now is the M6 self tapping pan heads for the chain catcher/front av spring screws. Everything else seams in order. Had to call it a night. Going to get a fresh look at everything again in the morning. Thank God I had a service manual and IPL for both saws. Made figuring out which part for which saw a lot easier.

I have one of those 361 kit saw coming. Looks like I need to get an order together for the local stihl dealer.

Well i got it running! after i got all the parts i needed to complete the saw it came together really smooth. i contacted huztl about missing AV screws, wrong size wrist pin and they are sending them with my next order. i have 2 660's on the way and another 361 and 440 coming as well. ill have two of each. one that i will build as is with included parts and the other to put a better piston and cylinder and OEM parts and make a very good reliable and strong saw..

Anyhow. instead of waiting the the 11mm wrist pin to show up from china i ordered a meteor piston from baileys. i really like ordering from them because i get stuff in 2 days since im in california. installed the meteor and checked squish, Bingo, 22 thou. very happy. No base gasket. just 1184. everything from there on came together very easy accept for the chain brake spring. its missing a bend that allows it to fit correctly. i would go OEM here..

she idles and oils. hasent seen wood yet. hopefully this weekend.

Things to watch out for.
missing AV screws, chain brake spring, wrong wrist pin size. missing clutch side crank shaft snap ring.
also i may need a new spark plug boot or the metal spring inside. mine falls apart everytime i pull the boot off the plug.... Oh and also gap your plugs before installing them....

I cant stress enought the importance of having both the service manual and IPL for your particular model especially if you have never built a saw before. makes life 10-20 times easier. a search here on OPE will get you that manuals you need

If your running those "AMc" china wrist pin bearings his should be interesting in the better build with oe parts.
i tried to use OEM wrist pin but it didnt fit correctly in the piston, it was to long. i was able to still use an OEM wrist pin bearing.... the wrist pin used came with the meteor piston.

Tried to start building the 2nd 361.

Cut off the plastic bubble wrap on the cases and found this.....

What do you guys think? I think I'm gonna send them back....

The first set of cases I got from them were almost perfect

While it's less than perfect I would deem it serviceable.

I had an issue of the piston skit contacting the crank lobe so out came the die grinder. Also con rod clearance to sides of piston too tight had to file down. Affleetcomand had the same issues on his Vidio. Also squish was excessive. We will see how it starts and runs this weekend
