The only gun I have a bipod on is my varmint rig, a Ruger M 77 in 220 Swift with a 26" bull barrel.

What cal guns, and do you re load?
I gots me one of them too. Mine has the laminated stock and a Boush & Lomb 6 × 24. She sure do like lots of 4064 behind a 50 grain tnt.

I think mine is from the 1st year they came out, has a Walnut stock that I glass bedded. Also has a NLA 10X Leopold on it. I remember being in shock that the scope cost as much as the gun!

4064 is my powder of choice, but usually with 52 or 53 gr HP bullets. The Norma Factory loads were also very hot and extremely accurate, with a 48 gr bullet. However, I found out they were too hard for varmint hunting, they would just pencil hole through a chuck and he would make it back to his hole.

The HP bullets anchored them well.

I'm upset they discontinued the Winchester 120 primers, all my loads were built around that excellent primer.

When the gun was new, it would put holes in holes at 100 yds, shot after shot. It will still shoot under 1/2", but it is not the same.

I too have one of the 10× Leopold scope, but it's on an M1A. And hot and heavy battles with 220 Swifts are hard on barrel throats. I was lucky enough to have 2 Swifts thereby allowing me alternate rifles during such battles.
