This one is a walbro HD-6. It's kinda odd really because it didn't have these problems before. I'm probably gonna try and get a zama for it because my 372 & 365 have them. But well we what pops up first. May try an aftermarket if I can't find anything else.

The hd6 is slightly smaller than the zama I believe. The hd12 has the largest venturi of the 372 stock carbs. I think Nate sells them for pretty cheap.

I wonder what the heck happens to these carbs when they all of a sudden decide to run like crap. I’d bet we’ve all had similar issues at some point. Did you remove the Welch plugs and check for obstruction when you put a kit in the carb?

I wanted to remove it but I didn't have an extra plug in kit and I usually destroy them getting them out. Idk but I'm gonna tear it apart when I get a chance. There's gotta be something in it to make it all of a sudden do this.

Give it a USC bath and see how it responds. My cheapie Harbor Freight USC has performed miracles with lots of carbs. Paid for itself reviving the first one I threw at it. And speaking of pressure tests a couple posts ago, putting a little into a problem carb to check pop off could also reveal other leaks. As for leaks around the shafts, just measure and see what ya have. It'll either be the shaft or the carb body worn beyond tolerance. Shafts are replaceable fairly cheap. Then there are the check valves. Some are easy to remove and test, some aren't. Gaskets can also be a problem if not cut just right..., especially on the pump diaphragm side and especially with aftermarket kits. And pump diaphragm material could also come into play if the carb is supposed to have an amber Teflon pump diaphragm and there's a blue acetate one in it, etc. Could be lots of things, but I'm going with dirt somewhere or wrong kit component since it sounds like it just started happening vs. something that's slowly developed over time.

Thanks for the info sir. Yeah I don't have a USC but have been thinking about one for some time now. I use some AF kits but mostly name brands. I'm also leaning towards something worked it's way into the carb as it wasn't a problem before now.

on your original carb. I'm not sure how the high speed and idle circuits are set up on that carb. But it could be the high speed nozzle check valve leaking causing air to intermittently be drawn into idle circuit.

I'm not a 100 percent bud. I think it has something in it by just the way it all of a sudden started its deal. I had done all the cleaning on it that I could. I'm kinda entertaining the idea of having someone run it through an ultrasonic cleaner just to see what happens.

Its alive..... running pretty dang good with that walbro HD17. Chain wasn't perfect (believe it hit something on cuts before this) but hey I'm happy since its running better.
