It's all OEM. This is the saw my son and I built as a father son project last winter. Total rebuild all the way to the seals and bearings. I'll try and do a pressure test later this afternoon when I get off work. I don't have a way to do a vacuum test yet. After watching the video again, do the pressure and vac test.... it could be leaking. Sounds kinda wonky....
Still could be the coil. Is it aftermarket or OEM??
Pressure test will be sufficient. It's all OEM. This is the saw my son and I built as a father son project last winter. Total rebuild all the way to the seals and bearings. I'll try and do a pressure test later this afternoon when I get off work. I don't have a way to do a vacuum test yet.

Bad intake boot. I replaced one on a 385 this year.Dont know why i just remembered this but after i posted video. I went back out to shop and with saw running I could push on the side of airfilter and move carb ti either side front to back and saw would respond differently. That's what made me think more about an air leak in that area.

Welp...in the 371/372 the most likely place it will leak is the PTO side and pressure will find it.Pressure can often mask or "fix" a vacuum leak.
Yep glad you found the problem.I agree with both you men. But I believe the carb is the problem.
