Is a brake not normal on a 2 series, I've never had one without.

GLWS Heath.
It may just be me but all the 2 series I have acquired except one 288 were missing or broken. I even had a 272 that the guy I bought it from cut the brake off the sprocket cover with a zizz wheel. He said only sissy’s need it anyway lol.

Yeah.

I know a fellow who has a scar across his head in a diagonal manner that probably wouldn’t be there were he running a Saw with a Brake that day.

I get that, sounded as if you were saying they didn't come with them "to me", interesting how we interpret things sometimes:comp4:.

I fixed them before using them except the 298. I fell down in a tree top limbing one time. The saw landed beside me still running the brake was locked. That’s when I realized they are important.

The early cylinders had no decomp. Can’t see clear enough in the photo to tell though.
