He showed up bit earlier.
Pulled the saw out of the trunk of his car and asked how long it would take to sharpen the blade. He had other things to take care of and this was inconveniencing him. "No problem, I'm done."
I calmly explained that he is unappreciative, inconsiderate and really not worth knowing.
I told him that I was done with him and wasn't going to help him with anything.
Things were going well, me talking and him standing like a deer in the headlights, until he regrouped, walked toward me, told me I couldn't talk to him like that and called me a b1tch.
I didn't hit him but I put him on the ground with my hand on his throat and 240lbs straddling his chest.
We had the remainder of our conversation with him on his back and me holding him there.
My wife walked outside during our conversation, asked me if I wanted a beer when I was done and walked back in the house, acting like what she was witnessing was a normal every day occurance. She was great!
He now understands that if he ever speaks to my wife in a raised voice, I'll make sure he doesn't speak again for a long time.
As he was leaving, he acted like his feelings were hurt and he said he was sorry that we couldn't be friends any longer. I almost felt sorry for him.
I wonder if the guy is truly just an Ahole, or if there's something going on in his head and he's wired wrong. From how he was acting when he showed up, to how he acted when he was leaving, it was like I was talking to two entirely different people.
My wife is off tomorrow, so if Tammy doesn't call the house, it'll be Monday before the girls talk. I'm interested to hear what he tells her.
Ummmmm, ya............about that blade

Well played man. Doubt he comes around. Ever.

From the way you described his attitude before and after your conversation it sounds like you may have been the first person to physically confront him on his actions. I wouldn't feel bad, I feel like you taught him a good lesson in life and maybe he'll step back and think alittle more.

Unfortunately, he seems like the type that takes out his aggressions on his wife. Probably both verbal and physical.
My In-laws nighbor sounds like this guys clone. The day he really tuned up his wife and she showed up over there looking for help, then defended him and went back, my inlaws flushed both those turds and I dont think have spoken since (8-10 years now).

You did good, he came at you, he deserved more than he got. Hopefully he just simply goes away now.

Damn...well played Steve. This idiot sounds either bipolar or schizophrenic one. And I'm sure redline4 above hit the nail on the head...I bet his ol' lady has to put up with a wheelbarrow load of at least verbal chit, if not more, every damn day from this fool.

If he's of the extra extra dense kind(they do exist) and try's coming around again, put your hand up and interrupt him right off the bat and say... "Excuse me, but you must have me confused with someone else, as I only talk to people", then walk away, leaving him with his mouth open. I've only used that line twice in my life but it worked to great effect both times.

Lol
Wish I could have seen that.

I mean come on, he really must have thought you were his *b-word when he showed up, “your inconveniencing me by helping me”? You were supposed to go pick it up and bring it back for free too...

What a tool.

A little decency goes a long way.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.
His wife is a good person.

Tammy left his ass.
She was at our house crying on my wife's shoulder when I got home this evening.
After our little talk last night he was apparently pretty hard on her. This morning she saw bruises on his neck and when she asked about them, he came unspooled.
She went to work, thought about what was going on, left early, went home, packed a bunch of her stuff and left. She's going to stay with her sister until things get sorted out. She's going to see an attorney Monday and file for divorce.
She kept apologizing for getting us involved but was glad things had finally come to a head and she was getting out.
We did get her to laugh, when my wife explained how he got the bruises on his neck. Tammy said that if he shows up at our house again, to feel free to kick the living $hit out of him. I told her if the opportunity presented itself, I'd surely oblige.
She did ask if I'd go with her if needed, to get more of her stuff from the house. I told her she'd be better off taking a deputy.

It's hard to believe that all of this started because I'm not capable of properly bucking a log.

Look at it this way. Your inability to do as he told you is saving her years of grief.

And that folks is a perfect definition of "That escalated quickly!" If I've ever heard one.

Sounds like his cheese done slid off the cracker.

Hopefully she get the house or it gets sold.
