I know 441s are on the heavy size for their size, but that one must be filled with fluid. Never even heard a claim they were that heavy.

That 441 is a standard 1/2 wrap saw, no 3/4 wrap, no west coast clutch cover, or dual felling spikes, or any extras, just a standard 1/2 wrap 441, dry no fluids, no gas, no oil.

That was a old pic I saved on my computer from a few years ago, when we were discussing weights.

Just took this right now, still weighs 15.45 lbs.... buy it or not, it is, what, it is...

Here is a early 046, dry, just for reference...

But it’s a stihl. That can’t be so. They are the best period.

OK, I must be wrong. I had a non M Tron 441 and I do not believe it was near that heavy. Thanks for verifying those were your pics, and the saw details. Forgive me that I was skeptical, but lots of false stuff out there. (After being an auditor for over 32 years, I always try to verify info).

461 is basically the same weight as the 441c I posted on the 1st page of this thread. I could drain my 461 and pull the b & c, and put it on the scale but it will be within a oz or so of the 441c.

Medical journal says the average weight of a bowel movement is between 2-4 lbs (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less) depending on a few factors. Don't fret over a 1 lb difference of a 461 vs a 044. Listen to the other guys here, get a 461 and a 28" light weight bar and be done. If weight becomes a issue eat some bran muffins the night befores......
+1

Say what you want, I like my Hybrids, and my MOFO 460. I think the Hybrids provide about the best power/weight in one of the most useful saw sizes out there.

If you had to pick just one saw, for limbing, bucking and felling, they would have to be very high up on the list.

Just remember guys... weights in't everything, even when it's about similar power saws. Balance, vibrations, fuel efficience, air filtration, and of course personnal preferences are important points too.

When I started looking on chainsaw specs 20 years ago, I though the 064 was the greatest saw on the market. On paper, the 288 was a heavy piece of crap against the 064.

In the real world, as a professionnal logger, I'll choose the 288. A hair stronger, better balance, and better filtration. The European 064 is great, and a good bit lighter. But if you cut fir, you can clean your AF after every tank (we never had HD filters on the 044/064 in europe).

But in hands, the 462 really feels like a 562. 562 still handle better, but the weight/balance are pretty similar.

Heavy weight champ (in more ways then one) of 70cc steels... 461R arctic...

No gas, no oil, maybe a few ounces of saw dust...

DSCN6016.JPG

Odd thing is Stihl Canada shows the 461R as weighing 15.2, and the 461R VW as weighing 15.0

Someone has some explaining to do to them guys north of the border....

Now south of the border in the USA the 461R (non arctic) is listed at 15.72....that I believe!

In fact that saw should weigh even less than stock after porting and muffler mod...

My 046 heated handle felt about the same as the 461 weight wise. Never cared enough to weigh them. The 461 feels better in the hands however because it balances bars better than a 46 or 44.
