Haha, yep! There used to be a great jonsered dealer around here. He sold only pro saws and if you wanted a new one he asked how much wood do you cut? And took it from there. He was also a fan of the lesser models 2152, 2159, 2165 ect.

When I cut firewood if it takes more than a 60cc saw I couldn't be bothered..people on the internet are in fukkin' la-la land.

Your saying the 462 might be 1100$. A 661 is 1230$ (depending on the dealer).

Yes, that is what I said. Your logic would also apply to the MS461 wouldn't? is it's list not just over $1100 as well? Why would so many people here have bought those as the 661 is only $100 more.

I am saying guys are looking at the prices in Europe and Australia and freaking out about price based on a currancy conversion. If you look at the full line up the full line is more in those area. I feel this new saw will land in the price range exactly where we are used to buying 461's the saw it is primarily replacing.

Some people probably don’t want the mtronic (why they bought the 461 over a 661). I just wish they priced it closer to a 7910.

Was fortunate to survive the seventies and eighty's with no internet to guide us and only a 54cc McCulloch between us and freezing to death.

I cut close to 400 cord over the last couple winters using 6100's 562's and 670's.
Maybe US will be like Russia and get a non M-tron version.
I hope so! Im no fan of auto tune

I got a download of a MS462 brochure on my phone from South Africa , I don't know how to transfer it here.
On page 8 it shows the 462 is available in both CM and non CM.

I'm just gonna wait for the MS500i and be done with it.
462 is just a enlarged latest series 261 or 362

Glad you survived, and made it to the internet, so now you can read important threads on, whether to stack your wood, bark up, or bark down, if it's better to stack in, east to west rows, or north to south. Etc, etc,,,,

RR ties stack the best.........

I spent one winter burning 2" and 3" fullsize oak timbers that were used for a demo shield on a bridge, so they were air dried for a year under that bridge. You could stack wood in the furnace like bricks, and it burned like a champ.

Man I miss that wood pile.

850$ would be a lot more realistic for them to price it at. Might as well spend the extra 100$ and get a 661.

I see what you mean, but the weight difference between these saws is very substantial. For the people shopping for a 1000$+ saw, I don't think $100 is much of an issue. They'll buy the saw that fits their needs the best. A 661 has a place for sure, but if it's gonna be in your hands all day, a 462 would be the saw for most applications.

Just happy for now with my 2 beauties. Ordered a bunch more OEM parts from Stihl Canada, they even sent me new Stihl badges and Magnum decals.
Got the '92 066 Mag hybrid down to 14.6 lbs PHO. She doesn't need a port job:D
