I went with a 7910 myself great saws real value for the price couldn't pass it up but I was referring to the 462 vs 461
I agree, I just think people immediately try to compare the 462 to a 461... of course the 461 is probably gonna beat it, especially with a 28-32” bar. It’s a larger saw. It has a displacement advantage and a longer stroke (same situation with the 461 vs 7900). Does that mean the 462 is no good? No. I see the 462 as a more modern slightly lighter 440 successor with lots of improvements. I can’t wait to try one. The supposed 500i seems like it’s the 461 successor.

Dolmar 7900: 5.2nm @ 7000rpm
The dolmar 7900 had better have a touch more power. It's 7 cc bigger then the ms 462.

Now if you wanna compare the 7900 to the 500i that would be a much closer comparison of displacement vs power.

Yes, I was hoping one of the manufacturers would come out with something similar to a 7900

Anyone ever notice how much better a 461 balances a longer bar compared to a 046/460? They must’ve changed the weight distribution a bit. A great improvement I don’t hear mentioned a lot. I wonder if they continued this with the 462 vs a 440?

When the 462 finally drops here and guys start comparing, I think there are going to be some surprises as to where it compares to a 461 and where it gets beat. I know I was. Some of the general speculation about it is pretty far off.

Cant really compare the 7900 to an 046 or 461 either. 7900 is slightly bigger.

Seriously if we can't compare saws that are within 1 or 2 cc and very similar weight wtf can we compare?

Bottom line a stock 7900/7910 has gooder power than a stock 461. It doesn't mean the 461 isn't a good saw. They are both great in their own right.
