And I'm about to start on a Huztl MS361 build with a hyway cylinder and piston. Seriously keen to see how this goes together.
I read the threads talking about the difficulty of finding fuel without Ethanol with some amusement as the lowest grade fuel we can get here in NZ is 91 Octane and the highest grade premium fuel is 98 Octane! And it's available from the pump No fuel out here (although gas is probably is relatively expensive @ $9.06NZD per US Gallon for 98) has any Ethanol - we simply can't get it!
HS246 Trimmer attachments are quite common here in NZ, are they rare in the US?
I'll try and get some pics of stuff at the weekend and post them here.

The 08 started in the early 60’s I believe. I have some of the original red and grey ones. They don’t have any kill switch on them at all you used the choke. I also have the next series with a white kill button that you held in to shut off. These are all standard 08 which I believe is only a 48cc engine. The 08 super came out around 64-65 from what I’ve been able to find. Start out as 56 cc then went to 60 later on, I have one of the original concrete saw attachments that say ts 08 on the castings

Picture of my s10 also, kind of funny but all these saws are .404 pitch. Never would think a 48 cc saw would pull that chain but they do surprisingly well.

From post #1277 & 1280; I was able to get a piston for the MS391 with rings, wrist pin, and the circlips for less than $30. Actually I ended up with two as I was on the road last week and stopped by a shop and bought one, I had previously ordered one from a local Stihl shop but he was unsure if it included the ring and such...

How do you go about getting the rings compressed while working the piston into the bore? The McCulloch clam shell saws all have a nice taper to get the rings in but the 391 doesn't seem to have such a feature.

I wonder if that’s one of the saws that stihl uses a thin plastic ring compressor on. Disposable type you cut off after piston is in.

I've never even seen a 391 but I did work on a 029 which should be about the same .Shim stock,lots of oil and a skinny screwdriver and three hands would help .That attempt at humor aside you can do it .Not to worry if it blows blue smoke for about 5 minutes you used enough oil .

I use a zip tie.

It was much easier than I first thought it might be, just work it a bit and the rings went right in. The whole reassembly went very smoothly and it fired up right away. I am still waiting for a clutch bearing and this one will be ready to go. I only have this well used 20" Stihl bar available but I expect it will make a nice set up.

You can see the piston in the part washer, appears to have been straight gassed. The cylinder cleaned up quite nicely with emery & scotch bright. I gave everything a good cleaning, only issue I see with this saw is the crack in the top cover.

Yes, starts and idles nicely. I am still waiting on the clutch bearing so I haven't been able to try it in wood yet.

Had a chance to take a few photos of my latest Stihl pickup...has the 66mm 090 cylinder. Need
To find a good wrap handle, inner bar cover and a new decomp for cylinder.

Let’s pay attention to them fuel containers people.

Client brought in an 024 that would only idle.

Blind squirrel found the problem.

Mud(?) clogger the strainer solid.

He had replaced the fuel line and in tank filter too late.

Once again proof that the carb screen is the last line of defense .Amazing how things can pass through a filter only to end up in the screen which is often overlooked
