Looking for a couple of bucketlist saws that I want to acquire over the next few months. I'm in no hurry, but I'm throwing this out there to see what's available.

The 395 can be a basket case saw that needs to be rebuilt. I'm gonna mill with it so I don't need pretty.

The 372 needs to be a clean OE. I've got a MMWS cylinder I want to put on it. Not opposed to a 2171 either.

The 6100....meh, I'm flexible. Tell me what you got!

Cheers,
Dan

If you're bummed my saw has the 71cc cylinder instead of the 75 cylinder, just remember the 71 will run circles around the 75 all day.

I have a 371 with full wrap, west coast dogs and large chain cover on it. It's currently sporting a NWP BB cylinder that I ported, modded muffler and 395 (HS298) carb with 372XT filter setup to work with the carb.

That sounds like one of them scary saws.

He said he has a MMWS cylinder already for the 372 platform, why does he care what cylinder is on it?

As for the 372xp vs 375xp, I’ve had both, sold my oe372xp. Stock a 372 is a little livelier, but when both are ported there is no comparison between the two in bigger wood. In anything up to ~ 18” wood you might not notice the difference as much, but the 4cc extra displacement on the 375xp makes a difference, especially if you want to run a 24”+ bar.

375k cylinder peaks out over a 1000 rpm lower than the 372xp cylinder. Takes a lot of machining to get it where it needs to be.

Anyways, it matters to me because he referred to my saw as a xpw. When it's just a xp.

The 51.4mm is a beast ported properly.

Key word here is: properly.

I don't consider hogging out the intake and exhaust ports as much as possible, properly.

Now, the people that can port them properly, consider the cost/time more than the output/reward.

Sorry for derailing thread, OP. Plus side is extra bumps...

My ported 51.4 had the transfer “baffle” removed. Which I think is part of the key to getting it to run exceptional. I had a stock 51.4 saw at one point as well and it performed pretty good too for a stock saw.

my 375xp was ported by a top builder- they never said ‘sorry, the cost/time to do it is worth more than the reward’, they didn’t even say ‘oh that’s a lot of work, it’s going to cost extra’.

And as for “properly”, that can be said of any port job. Porting isn’t just about hogging everything out.

Nice. You guys have been posting away and I had no idea. Didn't get any notification recently.

So, here's where I'm at. Got the 6100 and I got the big saw (hopefully). Settled on a Husky 2100. I think it'll suit my purposes.

Hoping to make a decision on the 372 in about 10 days. Waiting on some saw funds to come in.

Send pics...
