Bring it. I took the compensater off my uncle's 500 S&W. I think I can hang ;)
This one has a muzzle brake you can turn on and off. I leave it off. The recoil isn’t as bad as one would think but the muzzle blast will rattle your brain, especially when using the brake.

You have my utmost respect. Been hunting and shooting for 35 years and I just can't deal with much recoil. The good news is, being a reloader, I can make ammo to my liking. For example, I hate shooting .40 S&W factory loads. They just feel nasty and overpressured, like they are trying to jump out of your hand. My loads, on the other hand, really arent that much slower than factory and are a pleasure to shoot.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I played for a while with all kind of hot loads for the 45 colt Ruger, but end up shooting mostly light loads because it’s just so enjoyable.

Reloading is a fun hobby. I downloading the 338 WM and my then 14 y/o nephew had a lot of fun shooting it.

My wife carries a Glock 33 .357 SIG. Shes damn good with it too.

Oh by the way, I hate muzzle brakes. You cant even shoot with friends without blowing dust in their face. My theory is,if you cant handle the recoil, buy a smaller gun.

Funny you bring up the 40. I have a XD 40 and my buddy has a SW M&P 40. And you'd the his SW was shooting a way bigger load than mine by the sound and feel of it.

I used to know a guy that had a Beretta 96, it was the softest shooting .40 I've ever tried.

How did it sound?

We were shooting 165gr Winchester target load. His S&W sound more like my 357 than a 40. Strange I tell ya.

Very nice. Your M70 made between 1965 and 1971???

Recoil you say?
How’s about a pistol in 270WSM.

Nice shot. I want to get into handgun hunting. I occasionally sit in thick brush with just my S&W Model 57 (.41 Mag), but the 4” barrel and factory sights aren’t ideal for longer ranges beyond about 25yds. Well, and neither are my distance shooting skills at the moment...lol!
