You're out east so Treestuff, Shelter Tree, Bartlett, Sherril. Lots of good options to compare who has what you need for best price at time.

Also rwrope.com has some good shorty deals time to time depending on how long you need and what type of rope. Should've bought the 130-148 ft shorty of 1/2" sterling htp when I had the chance basically 1/2 off retail.

I'm a Treestuff guy myself, but I'm also in Cincinnati area so things are guaranteed to show up fast from Indianapolis. Hint: full time treestuff coupon code is ISA10 for 10%

We can also discuss rope types if you'd like. I do some dirty natural crotch rigging so good ol threestrand or retired 16 strand safety blue climb lines. Both work well with the maasdam rope puller.

Rob,
IF ya don't mind.... walk me through this "eye splice" and why I want or don't want it. Seems like its a "speedy" way to form loops.

It can be if your not knot savvy. If you rig a lot of limbs it becomes a PIA! Using a shackle to form loops to choke limbs works.

My bestest rope is 3/4" sixteen double braid static. Bad ass stuff just like AMsteel blue synthetic winch line. Pricy! Get what you pay for!
I prefer 1/2" 12 or 16. 24 10mm is kinda limp. Great for tending a climber line with a mini block and hitch.

Free tips:
If your lowering large limbs horizontally set yourself up a bridle hitch of half inch line.
Split blocks are faster than pin blocks for quick tear down rigging.
Keep your lanyard on and use it for work positioning.
Keep your lines out of the dirt. Here's a far out idea, wash your ropes when they get wet and dirty.

Chemicals ruin ropes. If you use one with contamination thru the line you are a fool

Two shot-line minimum!
12 and 16oz bags. I have a two pounds rubber shot pear. It's cool.

Make your safety line a different color than your other ropes.

The first person who does grab your climbing line for other uses, beat him with a stick repeatedly as you *b-word and have a flippy. My 2cts :D

I have spliced eye on my climbing line, but not rigging ropes. I'm a gear junky for climbing and rigging lumber and other things up/laterally, but minimalist for rigging trees down. I just don't do it enough to invest at this point. Too many other things on the 'christmas wish list' Plus its just not how I learned. Running bowline stepped down branch at least a foot to half hitch all snugged up. Over natural crotch, wraps around own trunk/neighboring tree if availabe. Cut high and let it fly. All the while being aware of where it is headed and staying out of the way. Learned from some seriously old school anchor hitch/taughtline fellows. In the end you ought to be able to tie a running bowline just as fast as clipping carabiner without risk of sideloading hardware.

Extra throw bags/line are a must. They will inevitable get hung up. Keep your gear safe and clean as said. Most importantly... stay safe out there!

So your the guy to get it up there safely, nice. Can we pick your brain from time to time on tree house work and hanging wood joist and trusses?

Rob said, minimalist, on tearing down trees. I totally agree with that! KISS seems to be the safest way from point A to B IMO. So, not worth much but I'm still here :)
Thinum, ropeum and smashum

I'd say my craziest removal was moving the limbs from one side of the tree to the other to counterbalance the weight. I still had the poor bastard all wrong, hollow too. Yeah, it was up against the house, over the house with all the weight reversed and it still leaned way wrong. That big bull line, a 4x4 front-end loader and the 660 cured that. What a mess. Took me a half hour to cut loose and fish out the ropes and rigging.
Had no clue how to zip line back then. That is usually a PIA or the best day ever.

We picked up a 600' spool of Samson rope that was on special for $499.00 and created a couple of pieces out of it for rigging and such. Great stuff.

https://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?item=461

We also have one of these:

http://www.sherrilltree.com/climbing-gear/bigshot-launchers/notch-big-shot-standard-kit

With this for sending the line out w/o it getting snagged etc.

http://www.sherrilltree.com/rope/throwline-weights/sherrilltree-starter-throwline-kit

It's great for getting a bean bag plus light weight line into a crotch that can't be accessed via bucket or problematic to climb. Tie on the rope and pull it through.

Bucket truck came with a large block, friction ballard and other things that have come in handy, but IMHO the rope plus slingshot is great when you want to accurately and quickly get a line in a tree.

Cheers Angelo!

I've used a few "big shots" before....I've found them hard to "limit" travel on...I had a few throws end up in the next area code... :)
Good to see ya big "E "
Send me the link to that "repeater" you used up at dans for the outside Internet

Hey Angelo always good to hear from you.

Send me a PM of what you are trying to with your network. I can recommend some gear. Repeating can slow things down, at Dan's I had used a point to point link. If I added an AP where the camera was you would wifi in a field lol.

Cheers.

yeah ...for those of you that haven't met Jeff....he's that big.....

ties a brick to a 3/4 bull line and up it goes... no worries.

Jeff, keep that throw rope flecked out. they love to get tangled and knotted. one of those folding"cubes" is the best. Also a kids backpack is a great way to load all the "throw" stuff together. works for lines too.
50lb braided fishing line is what I use to get the elephant nut in the tree.

Way easier than tryin to toss .75" up there.

Well that's a new one on me. Makes the "cut chum and run" phrase make sense too. Easy stuff to deal with as well. Can you cast it up a tree too ?
