2 of those dang 4 mix hedgetrimmers, HL 100
My landscaper neighbor had his good trimmers and a good Stihl tophandle stolen 2 nights ago.
He brought out these 4 mix things from a lawn business he bought when they went belly up.

I do not want to learn these things but for a good neighbor i guess i need to.

One runs, cranks, and idles fine except it has a faint noise.
Not a hard miss or pop but more like a faint heart murmur.
Some carbon on piston and plug is dark but no carbon growth on it.

Pulled the valve cover and rolled the motor over with the cord, found the valve overlap.
Rockers feel about right, specs say .004.
I set valve lash at .002 on the race car every week for years so i trust my feel to get valve rattle close.
Them pushrods are tooth pics.

Now i need to find carb kits for these Zama carbtraptions.

usmcbuckwild, did you get the jet out and drill the bleed hole under it? I looks like you tried to get it out. If you didn’t and drilled through you may be ok as that’s the point in removing the jet in the first place. Don’t forget to JB weld the hole in the top of the nozzle shut. That will give you back your H tune. What size drills were you using??? From the picture they look rather large. If it runs really rich or ifbit floods trying to start you may need to close the jets with JB weld and redrill smaller.

David Young, adjusting the valve lash on the 4 mix is pretty easy. There are timing marks to get things in the right position....Check clearance then rotate flywheel. The hardest part for me was trimming down a feeler gauge to fit....pretty narrow and longish...

Hell no, it was in yer poast...I'm waiting on the pix of the save. I need to use more smileys when I'm funnin' I suppose...

:risas3:

I was just teasing you! Hahaha I know it was a bonehead move. To add insult to injury I used the wrong drill bits as well; used SAE instead of Metric. So the holes I drilled (including the one into the throttle body) are way too big. No coice but to disassemble and JB Weld

Just grind on cylinder and mod muffler to make that carb work
