TimeStandingStihl is a local friend of mine that I gave the VW diesel itch to. I’m pulling 47-49mpg with mixed driving to and from work. 2006 PD auto 6spd auto tranny with Franks TDi cam kit. Got about $3000 into it after all the work... 215k miles on the clock.

I stole Definitive Julie’s old Jetta rims and rubber when we drove to Hilton Head for vacation last year. Drove back through OHio on the way home so Dave could load the back of the rental down... [emoji106]

For doing rails my folley belsaw sharpen all does well, thinking a person could adapt something to grind the rails out wider/deeper but haven’t tried yet. Bought it and a bunch of stones and attachments for 50$

How much is shipping on 200Lbs of ackward sized steel from Iowa to East Coast? [emoji6]

Digging around tonight and thought I would bring this old thread back up. What did you end up doing with the Bar Shop? If anyone is wondering they are a bit more than 200lbs. The newer ones with a square tube frame and a trip hammer weigh exactly 280lbs

I have a basically new 1055 with the long table but it never gets used. Ole Belsaw made a ton. I have had 4 Belsaw planet/moulders also. I am down to two now with one being a barely used Craftsman version

Nice to see you back and posting @Bill G

Thank you Lee, I have been home 83 days now and I think I have run more fuel through saws in the last 83 days than I did in most 12 month periods of my life. It is funny that the night I was dropped off the bus I had a couple hours to kill waiting on my son to get off work and pick me up. I walked to the bank first then the farm store and picked up a couple bottles of Stihl oil. When my son came to the store to pick me up he had my fuel can with 5 gallons of gas in it in the back of his truck. He read my mind. A man must get his priorities in line....

‘Back in the day’, when things were more expensive than labor, lots of people had their guide bars repaired or renewed.

Today, with labor costs, that equation has been reversed. People with really expensive bars, including many harvester bars, or unique, antique bars, will still often repair them. The number of shops that specialize in this work has decreased substantially.
