The outer ring is 100% magnetic. There aren’t an actual magnets, it appears to be impregnated with any “magnetic material” in specific locations. I did chip off a piece and applied it to each of the steel insert locations and one of them is definitely opposite polarity.

A lot of rotors are designed this way, I believe the 'magnetic material' is/can be magnetized/polarized 'after the fact' of manufacture.
The steel plates transmit the field through and give it more definite boundaries for timing and such. Probably easier than forming the actual magnets with the steps.

Before you dissected it, I was going to suggest adding new plates, that would be relatively easy to fabricate, to the location/s that were missing...

I did a lot of work modding various motorcycle alternators/rotors and often ran into the continuous band of magnetic material. These were a bit easier to deal with though as it was charging system only with no ignition timing involved.

Its reverse, 116 si 36mm stroke and 116 35 mm stroke.

Got the 9000 back together. Passed pressure and vac test this time. Hope to have time to tune it over the weekend and get it in to some trees on Monday.

Thoughts and impressions on the Dolly 111 and 6800i? Found both sort of locally for good prices. Would ship the saws and buy them unseen besides the photos, so not really sure 100% on the condition, but they both appear to be in good order and running at least.

6800 cylinders are nla. Never had a 111 in my hands and the 6800 is a nice one to use.

The 7900 is ALIVE! 28” Sugi lightweight came in yesterday, got to find some decent sized logs to test drive as all I have left is 12-14” hardwood.
