Wanted to move this topic out of the current raffle and open it up to ideas.
I have been part of a number of different events on other sites and would like to offer my thoughts on the topic.

1- Create an OPE Raffle section in the General Section
2- Update the user profile section to allow a contact phone number or require a PM to be sent to the person holding the raffle with Current Contact Info.
3- Possible discussion on who can and cannot be included. (I.E. Members of other sites that are not members of OPE.)

Thoughts and or odea's?

Yep...Just put in big, bold capital letters at or near the top of the raffle/ fundraiser when it's created here...PLEASE PM ME YOUR INFO TO INCLUDE PHONE NUMBER/E-MAIL/etc/etc. Use only RAFFLE FOR ****** as the subject line of the PM! Possibly even ask to include donation amount so as to make sure that individual is given his correct amount of $10 each (or whatever indiv drawing ticket amounts are decided on) drawing chances, etc. Little food for thought to help speed up the final drawing of names/item picked process, and keep it moving along. Same stipulations across other sites as well.

I have brought these issues up many times over the years, for many raffles. There need to be a clear set of rules set at the beginning, and then followed.

Some people view these as informal, well intentioned, feel good events among friends, and casually change things mid-way: end dates; ticket purchases; mixing in auction payments; how to handle hard-to-reach participants; etc.

With the high value (!) of total and individual prizes at stake, and being open to the public, it is only a matter of time until someone files a legal action against the site, sponsors, or organizers.

Sample rules I proposed for a recent raffle:

1. The purpose of this raffle is to raise money for for (Real Name?) (Screen name?).
2. Participants receive one chance of winning for each ($10) contribution.
3. There is no limit on the number of contributions a participant may make.
4. Contributions must be made directly to https://www.gofundme.com/(xxxxxxxxxxxx)
5. Participants must include their screen name, or an email address, or a phone number, in the comments section, so that they can be easily contacted.
6. Contributions must be received by (date/time) to be eligible for the drawing.
7. All money received goes directly to (beneficiary).
8. Winners will be randomly selected by (??????) on or about (date/time) using a method of their choice.
9. A list of winners, in the order selected, will be posted in this thread.
10. The number of winners will match the number of prizes on the final, posted prize list, plus a reasonable number of alternate winners.
11. Each winner will have the opportunity to choose a prize from the prize list, in the order that the winners are selected.
12. If a winner cannot be reached, or does not respond, in a reasonable amount of time (specified?), the raffle organizer can allow the following winners to choose, in order, so that the raffle can be completed in a reasonable length of time.
13. Each participant may win one prize, regardless of how many chances were purchased, or how many times their name is selected in the random drawing.
14. Prizes are as described by the prize contributors in the thread, who are responsible for providing the prize, once notified by the winner.
15. Any costs, including shipping of the prize to the winner, are to be negotiated between the prize winner and the prize contributor, unless clearly stated in the description.

I would suggest to do the first five individually, after that do a list of ten or twenty and first come first served with a time limit.

Hate to stick my nose in to much but has to be a reasonable time limit to be fair. People are going nuts on the drawings right now. I think it's all in good fun but if a guy is working he might not be able to check the sight very often. 24-48 hrs would seem fair to me.

I believe 24 hours once it's your pick is plenty of time, the drawing date is known in advance.
I also believe the names should be drawn at once, that will allow people to be ready when it's their turn. The raffles all end fine, there is just some room for fine tuning.

Edit: I also believe that the raffle organizer should not have to be a private investigator to find the person drawn.
No contact info=name is posted, 24hrs passes, on to the next person.
