poulan 3400 wont idle with air cleaner on it

I ported my 3400 . I enlarged the exhaust and I removed the separator in the intake port.The saw runs strong but it wont idle with the air cleaner on it. Did I cause this when I made the two windows on the intake one?

It's flooding. I think I set the needle valve wrong. Can anyone tell me the correct way to set it?

Assuming it has an HDB carb, put a straight edge across the carb body and set it so it level with the carb body.

Make sure you didn't put the wrong gasket under the circuit plate as well.

Some saws after porting need more air at idle....drill a small hole in the throttle plate until you get your adjustment back. If you go to far it's easy to fix by soldering shut and redrilling to the size that worked. Drill opposite the nozzle or the divot on the edge of the throttle plate.
