should i fill the order this same guy just placed this morning? :risas3:

I'd be on the phone with him. Maybe it's a mistake and easily fixed with a conversation.
If he has a habit of doing this I would think the CC company would be on to him. Who in their right mind tries to screw someone then orders again? Oh that's right... people are often Crazy!!!![emoji12]

I'd give him a call. Either the chargeback was a mistake, or he's a complete idiot. If it was a mistake, it's easily sorted out, if not he just lost you as a place to get parts from. His loss.

I just cancelled and refunded the order. Sent along this
  • 1st order was turned in for fraud and chargeback initiated therefore we cannot in good faith fill this order
I should add, he changed up his payment method...this time he paid with paypal instead of CC.

Sounds like he wanted to go back for seconds, no sense serving him again.

From google reviews:

"Took the mower for them to fix a loose blade. After more than two weeks they called saying the mower was ready. They were nice enough to sharpen the dull blade. Mowed my lawn for 20 minutes and the blade was lose again. It was missing a part they never put. I ordered it online and fix it myself. Same happened with the chain saw. Got an estimate for 17 dollars for the mower and the chain saw would cost me nothing, since it was 'fixed' there the week before. Was presented a bill of 120 dollars!!"

"They charge $40 to drop something off saying it will come of the bill. They replaced the spark plug and 4 inches of fuel line on my push mower and charge $20 more. $60 total ."

One of my old mans favorite saying
"You can't fix stupid but you can definitely numb it with a 2x4"
I've yet to try this but I've been real close several times

This is the first time ever having a chargeback, any suspicious orders i just cancel and refund them. The iffy ones i make judgment calls by google the shipping address or name, or email/call the customer.

didn't really figure there was much in dispute with this guy....every part of the order matched....billing/shipping/phone/email/IP address all matched and not much to dispute when i had tracking numbers showing it shipped and was delivered. Fairly obvious to anyone looking at it that he was just being a crook

@KiwiBro I usually dont put much stock in google/facebook reviews. you can have a million customers and 99.9% of them are happy and only .000001% of them will post a positive review but the ones that feel slighted/wronged will almost always post a negative review and there are always 2 sides to a story

All good and well to do this but if he can't afford a measly few saw parts, I should think extracting blood from a stone might be easier than getting any money out of him. Fools like that need a nutsack kick.

in my case its just not worth pursuing.....he ordered a $4 part with shipping that cost me $6 and the chargeback fee was $30-40 so i am out $50 give or take a bit. He will get what is coming to eventually, you can only do that to so many people before the credit card company decides its fraud on his part and you best believe if he did it to me over a $10 order that he has done it to others.

Can you explain the 'chargeback fee'? Is that some kind of penalty above the direct costs?

Thanks.

Philbert
The chargeback fee is an administrative fee from the credit card company. Win or lose they still charge you that fee. It’s usually part of the merchant agreement you sign when you agree to take credit cards

used to be fraudulent charges were just written off by the CC companies but now the retailers are punished for accepting bogus cards, they claw back the money spent plus add a "chargeback fee" as well, think of chargeback fees as NSF fees your bank charges for bad checks. it was a one of those cute little consumer protection bills they passed a few years ago that gave CC companies the ability to do it

Chargeback Fraud
In addition to the prevention measures outlined above, you should be aware of chargeback fraud and how to protect themselves. One of the fastest growing types of chargebacks is what’s known as “friendly” fraud — when consumers purchase products with the intent of initiating a chargeback in order to get free merchandise.

The person committing the fraud will often claim that a product was not delivered, was not as described, or that they simply did not order a product. Especially since the recession, this type of fraud is on the rise, and is prevalent for card-not-present transactions. Check out our article on friendly fraud for a thorough explanation and steps you can take to protect yourself and your business.

Unfortunately, chargebacks are one of the “costs of doing business” when accepting credit cards.
