9F70B501-943C-4E09-A807-BFC6E071F7A6.jpeg Anybody played with this stuff? I just got a 25 ft roll to try.. From what I can tell, the tie straps and cutters do not have any of the “comfort” or anti-vibe features. Also, the angle from the front to back of the cutter is less steep, probably since the chain will not “rock back” when engaging the wood.

Because of the new spring mounted saws that run so smooth, I figure a little more chain vibration won’t hurt, especially if it cuts faster.

Pic is right out of the STIHL Bar and Chain catalog.

Last of the K series still produced. I guess only the hardcore chainsaw people knew to buy it.

Got the chain few days ago. Here's few pics. RSK in front, RS behind. I measured the cutter/depth gauge angle an it is 7 degrees, height measure is 0,031 ( 0,77mm ) measured with digital caliber. Will be tested on frozen birch in couple of weeks.......:)

36 RSK was discontinued in 2005 or so from what the dealer told me.

It still amazes me why the OEMs haven’t pushed for streamlining 3/8” to all 0.063” like they’ve done for .404”.

Everyone would like it better once they went to it, & it would bring prices down.

Only thing better is 36RSK. [emoji8]

Why do you like .063 gauge (36R) better than .050 gauge (33R)?

With Stihl brand chain, all of the 3/8 .050 is actually .063 gauge at the rivets, tie straps, and cutters. So there is no strength advantage to running .063 gauge chain technically. This is how Stihl uses the same repair links for all their 3/8 chain. The .050 gauge is only narrower where the drivers mate with the bar = less rotating mass. That’s why I run Stihl 33R chains - just as strong and takes less power to turn. If you look at 33R chain closely, you can see a distinct line on the driver at the base of the tie straps where it was manufactured/machined narrower. ..Just my 2 cents.

Wider bar groove doesn't plug with chips as easy.

Plus MO oil.

I ran all 050 for years. Never ran over 28" bars for work. Going to 063 for better oil film on the bar. Only like RS type chain in 063. Moving to milling I'm told 58 63 will do better over time. 404 RS full comp is pretty fast chain I must admit after trying it on the 40". Just got some 35 RM 72 dl 3/8 for beam cuts. Thanks RB.
That 33RSK is nice for making big chips fast on short bars. Wore out a few loops found in old buckets of chain.

Looks fast! Nice chips! Is the saw ported?

As far as RSK goes, it’s still being offered here - I just ordered my 25 ft roll a month or so ago right through Stihl.
