Ok, was just wondering since some of the aftermarket coils claim they fit from the 340-395xp. Now I need to decide if I want to buy a coil to try out 80$-100$ if that isn’t it. How do I make sure the throttle cable is adjusted correctly?

The coil is exclusive to the 500 series, though a 372 coil will also work according to what I just dug up. As for the throttle cable, pretty sure it's non-adjustable and just fits properly when installed correctly. Has a knob on each end to fit into corresponding linkage recesses at the carb and trigger with a strain relief at the handle end. This may help if you haven't already run across it.
BTW, an OEM coil is around 70 bucks.

Thanks, wondering what’s actually so different to this coil. I also heard that the 372 coil will change with others but haven’t done it myself this is all second hand. Guess I’m taking a 70$ gamble.

Well the 575 is running, same guy has a 372xp that runs but needs a muffler. Robbed coil off 372 put in 575 and it runs like a champ. Both had limited coils at 13,600. Part #’s almost identical one on 372 was 537 27 74-01 the 575 coil was 537 27 74-02. Looking on line and both coils listed to fit the 575 and 372. Then I tore my 345 Parts saw down and looked at the coil it’s part# 537 16 21-01 and I looked up this number and it also is supposed to work on a 372 and others. Just wondering why the black unlimited coil won’t work in the 575 or 372 since both coils were listed for the 372. Either have to buy a new coil and muffler for his 372 so I can fix it or just the muffler and use my 345 unlimited coil if it will work on the 372.

I don’t know what aftermarket muffler to buy for the 372 I’m working on. I see there is a top outlet exhaust and side outlet on HL supply. Saw came without muffler to my house which one do I order or do they both fit?

I am in need of some 5.5 mm spark plug wire, anyone have a suggestion?

Mark

If my memory is correct that's the Stihl lead wire used on some of their products. Someone said Stihl dealers (ones with parts) have that in bulk.
Not for sure though Mark but worth a call to a dealer.

year 1995 week 5.
Thought they used SE/SG in the tag the first years + I doubt they had started to make 254 back in 85.
If your 254 has air injection system there isnt any doubt.

I went back and looked at the pictures of this saw and it is air injected, so your assessment is spot on.

I think the silver tags were the eighties with the same number (year 1st digit, week 2nd and 3rd, saw number remaining digits) breakdown...
