yes I think it lost volume, went back in and took about half of what I had left in out.

before epoxt the best cut time was 8.57.
after epoxy was 9.53
after reshaping 7.99

That’s great! So it needed just a wee bit of direction change? Are you thinking you choked the charge up at the port entry?
I wonder what the final wash looks like? Don’t matter really though... you found the results you were looking for!! [emoji41]

Again, great thread Scott.

You picked up 7-8% gain by making a port smaller. That’s something for many to ponder.

Too bad photos of ports are so difficult to take and really show what’s going on. I guess many wish that they woulda been able to see those transfers in person. Personally, I woulda wanted to see the pockets inside the primaries.

Did you do any work to the lowers at all?

I’m no saw porter, just reading out of interest, but this thread has really made me ponder what flow vs velocity is. Trying to understand what’s what. I still wonder what’s better. Maybe a balance of both? So if I’m understanding correctly smaller port could be more velocity instead of hogging it out and loosing velocity?

I wonder how this 461 would've done against...say...an 066 with a larger carb...hmm. I wonder who might just have one laying around their shop in various states of disassembly...:D:p:b1:

Nice postings Scotty too hotty.

I'd like to see a heads up comparison between a ported 460 and a 461.

Obviously, an 066 has a major size advantage.

I guess my comparison would be similar to the 660 vs 661, and Scott says the 661 has the advantage with the long bar.

What keeps it fascinating is there is so much to it, Case Pressure, Case Volume/ccs, port size + shape etc.

Like TM says, you won't know till you try!
