I think that handle will really look sharp when finished. I'd keep going with it. Too nice to start over.

Just a little concerned with strength. There are still runs of grain that go from one end to the other, but it would be stronger without those couple layers of run out.

Just asking, but aren't the grains going the wrong way on that handle?

Yes this one is quarter-sawn , so really it shouldn’t be that strong its larch and not flat sawn I will use it myself and see how it lasts

Most of the ash handles I have in are quarter or diamond sawn so it’s a big ????

Understood. Still probably plenty strong. I tend to be drawn to nice grain and the handle just looks really nice. I want to get some ash for some projects.

I bought a wooden handle for my maul a bit back. It’s grain doesn’t run the way i prefer it. It’s been a good handle. I think you’ll be ok on that.
