Got couple 18v xrp batteries and a charger and am looking to buy a hammer drill. Looking at ebay theres a regular alphabet soup of models. Can someone give me a clue regarding which of the dcd950, dc725, dc725k2, dc925, dc988, dc989, and other models is the more powerful, lighter weight, newest, etc.
Really preciate the schooling

The little ones,DeWalt 18 volt are nice if you only need to drill a few holes .More you need a corded drill ,I have several .1/2" Milwaukee ,SDS Hilti and a TE 80 Hilti SDS max that could run a 4" core bit if I had one .That one doesn't see much action thank heavens .
Story time .The two Hiltis I got from work on a scrap pass, they didn't work .I made a set of brushes for the small one .The big one needed the idler gear and an armature . I was at an auction that had a disassembled TE 72 in a box, cost me all of 2 dollars which had the parts I needed .I knew a TE 72 and a TE 80 are the same drill only one was blue the other red . Works great .

It depends on what you are using it for.If you are drilling into block for wall anchors a cordless is fine for that.If you are drilling into a concrete pad you need a corded drill.I had the biggest cordless hammer drill Milwaukee makes.I drilled 5/16 holes to lay track.I had 4 9 amp batteries brand new.In order to drill 90 holes I had to rotate through all 4 batteries keeping them on chargers the whole time.Bosch makes a bully dog that is sds plus.Tough little drill.I carried an old Makita that was made just like the Bosch.Drilled with it daily for 5 years still going I give it to my helper.

Well now there's cordless drills and there's cordless drills .The millwrights at work drilled 3/4" anchor holes with DeWalt 60 volt models that took SDS max bits .Ran the anchors down with 18 volt Dewalt impact guns .Both tools did great .Impressed me
