Anyone have any experience with the new Ariens snow blower EFI engine? How they run? Any issues?
They look good.

We stopped selling them, the last ones left earlier this month. All ours were the older models with the Subaru engines.

So the older Arien's snow blowers had subaru engines?
Some new snow blowers are now EFI.

Actually, some Ariens snow throwers also ran Tecumseh Snow King engines. I have one, 2-stage, 10 Hp, and it always starts and runs. I think I bought it in 1992. It never bogs down. I had to adjust the carb once, back in '98.

I didn't know that.
I grew up with Tecumseh small engines. Lawn mowers and mini bikes.

Parts can still be found. Engines no longer made in USA. Someone may have bought out the entire stock and is selling out whatever remains. That happens now and then.

I have the 75th anniversary model, runs great, throws snow further than all my neighbors, just change oil every other year, little adjustment on belts.

You might get a kick out of the skid wheels I made in the shop and put on mine after the sliding scrapers wore out:
Snow Thrower Skid Wheel1.JPG
The rim is made out of 3/4" oak. I then glued on a PVC pipe outer "tire" with epoxy and used a bolt for an axle. They've lasted seven years, but I must admit we only average about four big enough snowfalls a year.

Cool idea. Those skids are cheap and easy to replace.

But, the skids kept scraping up my concrete driveway, leaving almost permanent tracks wherever I went. The rolling wheel idea came from an earlier Ariens I saw that used 4" dia. steel wheels made from 3/16" plate steel. Those were discontinued some 30 years ago. Not sure why. They worked.

Hmmm. My skids are metal. But I know they made some type of plastic skid also. I have never seen wheels anywhere around here. Lol
I didnt know the skids left marks. I have an asphalt driveway.

I have black top, look up Syracuse N.Y. Snow fall we get ~130" year.
Lived up the road Oswego area, they get more snow and had the same thrower only by Simplicity it lasted ~12 yrs. no real maintenance left it to the young guy who bought my house... he blew it up after one year, rod through the block.
Getting more snow this week and ~65 mh. winds tomorrow ; looks like truck riding with old blue Dolmak. I'm too old for the road sodas. ;)

I have a 32 inch Sears Craftsman Drift breaker that has steel wheels on it from the factory.
Only snow blower I have seen with wheels.
