I like those axes. Look similar to the ones Stihl offers.

Yes same here nice style they do look similar axes
I got this axe for a customer but he didn't have the biggest of hands and the shoulder is quite broad so he had a single bit axe I had here instead
Bison and Ochenkopf make most the hand tools for Dolmar in the EU

Is there a splitter on the other side

No sir, a little chopper. So when you encounter a limb on the ground side of a felled tree with your piece of firewood, just flip it around and chop it off instead of having to stop, go get the saw, start it up and cut it. Flip it again, stick it and take it to where you want. Handy, and saves time.

Cool tool. Who makes that?

Not sure, bought it at a Stihl dealer on the way home from a GTG when we had a flat tire, and I did not ask. I'm going to guess it came from the Pickaroon company out of Minnesota. That's where most pickaroons sold around here come from. Just search pickaroon and you'll find them.

That looks just like the stihl one i just got ,ws looking at the Stihl premium one made by Oxhsenkopf rebranded stihl ,what i went in to get in the first place ,but after holding it i actually liked the cheaper one better for feel ,handle was too bulky and balance was off for me ,Too many to pick from wanted them all ,settled on 4 ,a pickeroon made by Peavey ,a splitting mall made by Council ,and 2 stihl axes ,i almost grabbed the 4 lb council felling axe ,but as much as i would use it i can use the stihl one for pounding wedges ,i really like the feel of the hatchet also ,has good balance .I was set on the higher end axes when went to the saw shop ,glad i went in instead of buying online ,they were actually cheaper there .The higher end ones did not feel comfortable to me for some reason .KIMG2139.JPG KIMG2141.JPG KIMG2142.JPG
