This past weekend put quite a bit of time on my Mastermind 562. During this wood cutting expedition encountered several hot start issues as many of you have encountered. I know there's quite a few threads on this topic. The new design incorporates vents to help prevent the heat soak of the carb. Decided to try this modification to the hood to provide better airflow. I based this modification by looking at the inside of the hood and noticing The air flow pattern was traced by Saw dust. I then traced this with a sharpie marker and then cut it out with a Dremel. Then I glued spark arrestor screen on the inside. Have any of you fellas tried something similar for your 562's?
So far I'm getting good results but yet to run long term after this mod. I will report back if there are any problems. I've got some hot weather coming and hope to run this saw-mod though its paces. I will report back what I find, good or bad.
