Thanks it's my 1st double bit and my handles aren't the exact handle the nearest I can find is a neath mattock handle so the end of the handle doesn't taper out so I can cut to the length that's needed

Here's a GBA 2.5 lb I just made a handle for. My first real attempt at making one. So I wasn't very picky on grain direction but I've seen worse at the store. This thing turned out much better than I ever thought, so check it out. Pretty much all done with a rasp and about 6 hrs [emoji12]

I also prefer the upper end of the handle slightly extending pass the top of the axe head. Is the center wedge wood or metal?Here's a GBA 2.5 lb I just made a handle for. Visited old friends today found out bob worked at Kelly's from 1970 until they went under he gave me the new condition red single bit I've been looking everywhere for one.
that is not a hatchet it's a large axe head somebody must've had some arms on them to use it.
Tab gave me the other single bits and the double bits in great shape the little boy's axe/hatchet needs some work.
Junior gave me the nice Kelly's fire axe looks new.
