When/will we see the rise of gas tractors again?
H and m tractors are out there.When/will we see the rise of gas tractors again?
Probably never. I'm thinking risk of fire and the extremely dirty and hot conditions would be a weighing factor.When/will we see the rise of gas tractors again?
I agree with Kenneth.
Now, don't get me wrong, I like diesels. Always have. Although I have never owned one there is a deffinet place for their use and there are ones who need the serious pulling power of one. I wouldn't mind having one but in all practicality it would be money ill spent on my part. I don't have anything big enough to pull to justify buying one. The biggest reason, though, that I don't have one is that when they break they get expensive fast. Ive been reading a lot of posts here about all the stuff that is done to them to get a lot more power and reliability out of them. But for my needs a 302 or a 351 will do what I want and work fine. A 460 would be better and I can work on those. I can't work on a diesel so I would be at the mercy of a repair shop. And that is something I just can't do.
I don't say this to make others angry at me. I enjoy reading and listening and asking questions to those that run diesels. That's how I learn and, maybe, just maybe, when I've learned enough I'll go buy one.
On that note, why can't we have a fuel pincher small truck diesel, like the ones in the 80's that got good mileage and good reliability. But then again it'd still be 35,000.00 and unable to get a manual transmission...Too bad some diesel owners didn't have your perspective! There are way to many people/kids that have diesel pickups that don't deserve them! But it's there money so whatever I guess. You won't believe how many are around that have never pulled a trailer

Not to mention fuel economy.
Hearsay has it the Ford Ranger is coming back in 2019ish. Supposed to have a diesel option. Also read where F150's will have a V6 diesel available next year.On that note, why can't we have a fuel pincher small truck diesel, like the ones in the 80's that got good mileage and good reliability. Man, I don't know.
But in a honda, toyota, chevy et all, you can get 150 hp out of a 2.2 liter, 4 cylinder motor. It can run @ 2000 rpm on less than 2 gal of fuel per hour, and have a service life of up to 6000 hours or more..
Quiet, starts in the cold well.
You know..
Not for the big heavy's or combines.
Just utility tractors.
My understanding is Europe is geared toward diesel. Has been for a long time. Vast majority is diesel powered. Whereas the U.S. Is geared for gasoline.Exactly, aren't small diesel cars and trucks much more available over seas. The price of all new vehicles is mind boggling in my opinion.
In Europe, fuel probably costs double what it does here. So a 25% increase in economy adds up to bigger savings. My understanding is Europe is geared toward diesel. Has been for a long time. Vast majority is diesel powered. Whereas the U.S. Is geared for gasoline.
I read years ago the American public doesn't like Diesel engines because of vibration/shudder/noise. However those problems have been eliminated.
