Can you post facebook links? I'll try....interestingly enough there is this very question on the Farmertec Facebook page...folks who could build my 254's if they thought there was a reason. THEY won't particularly care about my opinion and whats interesting to me, probably much more interested in you "real world" opinion of those in the business.....ME? Still want more parts for those 254's....SO those who are stuck on real world, tell someone who can react. Those in the Hobby world? Lets carry on our discussion!

Learning about 288's...there is a 288 lite? The difference is? And is a 298 on the same chassis or is it on the larger 2100 chassis?

Why not?
But I see a 455 and a 450 in that pic. I happen to like the 460 as a roll around the truck saw. But for me the "fun" factor pretty much rules most of those out. I have a 298 project, hopefully this year. That looks to be a beast of a saw! And a 281. SO not certain any of the "likely" saws from their prospective will be in my small world for a while.

Yes there was a 288 lite, and the difference was not very much IMO, the 298 is like the 2100 I believe.

One chassis I hope to revisit is those 61-272's. I have a bunch and they need a reason to exist. Might be fun to build a set of the 200 saws to "retire" the project saws from last season. 254, 272, 298?

I would buy a 455 and not even put it together, what a way to have every last part on hand possible for the most popular firewood saw. All I can say is the squeaky wheel gets the grease! Yeah 272! Lol

You really can't go wrong with any 2 series saw IMO, and they are just plain old fun to work on.

The 288 Lite had the low top, half wrap, and I don't think they came with the seventh mount but I could be wrong @Spike60? The 298 is on the older (and larger) 2100 chassis.

I can understand that! Thats how I stumbled into the 660's... had a person (who will remain unnamed...might be a lurker) who had this knack of crushing 660's. SO I went looking for parts.....turned into way more than I planned! But for me personally.....and selfishly. Looking for ways to support a hobby. I'm kind of headed back to the older Orange saws so actually bits and pieces from the AM world may be necessary to complete projects. So I'm NOT someone who's direction makes for a good business model..:)
