What is your preference for a concealed carry weapon?

.375 Winchester or? I'm assuming not a H&H, Hawk or a Ruger (unless it's a convert). The 375 Winchester is a neat round and a hell of a brush caliber. A .38-55 would be nice if it's dimensions weren't all of the map, depending on the chamber, from a reloading standpoint. A .450 or 50 Alaskan in an 1886 style action would be a hell of a caliber for brush and general big critter busting... Then again, the old .45-70 might be almost as popular (and much more versatile, in the right weapon) than it ever was before.

Winchester. And you're right,it is an incredible round,highly underrated.

My favorite brush gun was a lever in .35 Remington. Not hard on the shoulder but strong enough to take down just about everything in the Americas.

Both rounds (to me) are far better hunting/defense tools, with heavy WFN bullets that hit like Thor's Hammer... I suppose I might find a Rossi R92 and then have someone like E.R. Shaw & Co, or similar make a 20" med-heavy barrel w/a 1-20 to a 1-24 twist rate. That should balance well, hit hard and stabilize a 240-330gr bullet which is where I'd be at anyway.

A 77/357 is the next gun I'd like to buy.

They sure did. I have an early 1895 45-70. I guess Burnie is keeping that 375 but he is sending me a list of the rest. There is a 30-06 that I probably should own,I have a think for mauser 98 sporters. He has a really nice 686 with adjustable sights and a few S&W 22lr revolvers. Doubt they are K22 Masterpiece though

You got that right.

I had a beautiful 1895 45-70 that was pre Remington buy out.

A buddy bought a new 1895 a year ago. The quality, fit and finish etc was night and day difference between our two rifles.

I kind of regret selling it, but I never shot the thing. I had a guy approach me who wanted the rifle worst than I did and he traded me a Springfield TRP that he had Springfields Custom Shop custom build for him

I'm shopping for a purse ccw for the wife. Should I go 416 Rigby? Thought I was in the wrong thread with all the rifle posts. Just kidding, it's OPE.

What's the thoughts on the Glock 42 vs. the M&P Shield 9mm?
She's handled all the pocket .380's and liked the 42 best. She already shoots a Glock 17, so the controls would be the same. The Shield, is only slightly larger and could share ammo. I don't think she would like the recoil of the smaller Glock 43 9mm.

For the record,I would go with the 404 Jeffry. And the G42. If she likes the 17 why not the 19? And convince her to carry on her body,it's a lifestyle but way better than carrying in a purse.

.416 Taylor is also a good choice, though the .416 Ruger might be less expensive... I am a sucker for the Rigby in the Ruger #1 though (and the .577 NE in a double rifle). The 42 and 43 are both fun. I don't think that the 43's recoil is prohibitive, but it all depends on the shooter. The 42 OTOH, is positively fun and polite. My Wife actually half-way liked it and She is mostly recoil averse in the handgun format. I doubt She'll be playing with my 4" 629 while using Garret, B.B or other 300+gr loads anytime soon, though I find them more pleasant that truly HOT 240gr loadings...

It's much more handy than a micro .380.

Taurus makes a slim little single stack 380. I forget the model but my buddy had one and Ive ran several rounds through it without a hiccup and the recoil was really soft
