So if you said you were gonna catch a slackergot on fire, it could mean a bundle of sticks.
Or beating one with a hammer could mean iron rods.

I think it costs nothing and is a good thing to try and treat each other a little better and with respect. I also like the fact this forum ain't 100% politically correct and is a place most of us feel comfortable being & discussing stuff. I have seen/felt more good around here than bad, members are constantly helping each other and doing good looking out for each other. I don't see much 'hate' here and if there is its a tiny small percent of what goes on. Sure the mods could turn the site into a politically perfect environment, but what would we have then?
Well said brother...My approach with my first post in this gaggle was geared towards the same meaning, just worded different and I'm sure most picked up on it. If I let my Marine Corps mentality side shine here, I'd a gotten the good ol' GFY kick in the nutsack a long time ago...like I got my ejection seat cord pulled from that other stinking pile site. I ain't gotta whole lotta time for sensitivity with what I've been through, but I'm a tryin' to change a little fellas, and watch me ol' words I type.Personally I do not believe that it is hate speech for using one certain word or another. Direct those words to an individual or group of individuals, then it's hate speech, otherwise it is just being insensitive. There are all different kinds of folks here, from all over the world, from all different walks of life, there's going to be things said not everyone likes. Unless they are being said directly toward you, let it go, move on, do what you have to and get over it. If on the other hand some one was to call you out, call you a dirty cotton rock sucker, then get your dander up a bit.
Every time we try to get rid of a word, it just leads to getting rid of more words, until it becomes difficult to communicate with each other I don't see the pattern changing. Pretty poor way to live if you ask me, being afraid to say the wrong word.
Hate is a pretty bad word, lets ban it next.

i might have to try tea with milk most of time i drink it strong with no sugar with lemon either hot or cold.Yes every time strong black tea with milk these westcountry meatballs originated a from a a time in history when times where hard and you had too make a meal out of every scrap of meat and offal , around 1920 to 1930 when depression and ration tickets where in operation after our forefathers had been fighting for there way of life and freedom of speech
Yeah pretty ghey huhthis escalated quickly woke up were on page 5
So, maybe this ain't a popular opinion here, and I'm alright with that.
I'm starting this thread because i see some words getting thrown around that I think we'd do better to eliminate from our vocabulary. I figured I'd start my own thread rather than stand on a soap-box.
So, mainly the words that I've been seeing are "gay" and "ghey" used to denote when something is lame or bad or dumb. Well, I personally think that that's inappropriate. And, frankly, hateful. I grew up in the Midwest. "Gay" got used every day in my high school the way it gets used here. I'm guilty of using it myself. But after high school someone took me aside and explained to me what I'm trying to say here. That "gay" isn't a bad thing. It's not wrong to be gay, and using "gay" in language to mean the same thing as "$hitty" is just another instance of putting down someone else who is different.
Now, maybe you use this word, and maybe you honestly, truly don't think less of gay folks. That's probably where I was at when I used it in high school. One of my aunts is gay. She's been an incredible figure in my life. I don't now and didn't then mean any harm gay people. I used the word without realizing that it is hurtful to them. And it is. Maybe not every gay person is bothered by it, but some are, and that's enough for me to stop using it. Hopefully for you too.
I know that political correctness fit the sake of political correctness isn't popular around here, and that's fine. To me, this isn't about that. It's about not using language that completely unnecessarily degrades others. You don't actually think it's homosexual that your truck wouldn't start. Just say it's dumb and get to fixing it. Saying it's "gay" just drives a wedge between people. It makes look like a bigot and disrespectful. Would you walk around saying "that's so black" or "that's so Latino". No, because that's out of line. It's derogatory, just like saying "that's so gay".
I'm not gonna address it in depth right now, but calling people "pussy", or saying something is "pussy" would be another one I think we can eliminate.
So, if anyone wants to chime in, I'd love to hear what people think. Personally, i think that, as a community, we'll be better off if we strive to be respectful of all people with our language.
Thanks for reading, and have yourself a good one.

Ryan,
In the future, instead of jumping into a long running diatribe about your own Moral Compass when taking offence to printed words here on OPE, perhaps a PM directly to the party to which you take exception would be a better avenue?
The sands in the hourglass for this thread are running short, as the vitriol, and semantics debate is rather tiresome.
