Well guys me and one of my neighbors, which is a friend since children, came across a damn good score yesterday....the Amish are logging a smaller area and we are getting the tops, a lot of oak and some ash.... Didn't get a chance to get pics but I will next trip..... Just glad to get another good spot, always a relief!!!

Nothing too special. I just moved a heavy stack of two-year seasoned cherry from the orchard. Super knotty, hot and fragrant. The start of a run of D. Fir. Both top-drawer fuels for this area.

Realistically, this pile won't see the inside of the stove for 2-3 more years. Lots more ready to burn. Apple, apricot, larch etc.

Working 7-12's time is one thing I don't have .However the last few weeks I've been splitting stuff that has been cut for several years .It might take me 3 days to get a cord but given enough time I'll get it all done .

This is what I got right now. 6.5 plus cords best I can measure. I don't have a real system, I just stack it where ever I find room near the heater.

Finally after working working 7-12's for the best part of three years I'm on an 8 hour shift .I have some time to attend to my firewood So in the last 4-5 days I've split and stacked about 3 cords already cut

I took a cruise through my woods and noted the hickories .For those not familiar a hickory looses it leaves in the fall long before the others .They just turn brown fall off and that's that .I've got three varieties, shag bark, bitternut and shell .They vary as to when they shed .I found one tree,a hundred footer bare which concerns me .If it doesn't leaf in the spring that will tell the tale .
