cool project.... 066 cabratater?
Not yet. Maybe. I have a WJ6 from the same carcass that donated the piston but the body is larger and makes the carb box extra crowded.
Based on this official document I think an HD16 should do the job.

But, turns out I only had an HD14 so I’ll try that.
361 carb.

HD14 carb.

You have to swap the snorkels. The linkages aren’t exactly the same either so I had to modify the choke arm a bit.

Luckily, 361 has a molded hole for the standard pulse line even though it doesn’t use it. I splurged and put a brand new pulse in.

I have a 440 linkage on order but I got impatient. Just 10 gauge copper. Welding rod is more rigid but harder to do minor tweaks. Many tweaks were necessary.
That is an awesome fix. A friend of mine is working on a 576 and lost the rod on the carb. I just texted him one of your pictures above, I am sure he has some copper welding rod he can make one too for his saw!

It helps a lot if you have the original to match as many bends as possible. Lots harder if you’re just eyeballing.

That rod length control the strato open timing which is a bit finnicky.

More carb shenanigans. The choke just wouldn’t actuate with the HD 14 paddle. The resting angle needs to be at 7 o’clock. The 14 is at about 5:30.IMG_1948.jpeg

So I took the vein shaft out of the 361 carb, widened the land for the bigger choke plate, and then put it into the 14. Turns out the 14 shaft won’t line up in the smaller carb, but the smaller carb parts fit okay in the bigger one.

My 440 linkage came in. Here’s all three.IMG_1957.jpeg
I had to cut the end off the 440 linkage and bend it about this much.

Fits perfect. I left a tiny hook on the trigger end to help it stay. Wasn’t necessary.
