Hmmm forgot to write # down for 1. Got more in pic then wrote down. LOL

Only difference I noticed in the 2 Pio pistons. One of then had one side with narrower skirt. Both went into all 3 cylinders same fit it seemed.

The cylinder # that goes with is "507431400 fits model P21,P26,P28,1074 and others." IDK maybe it's like Poulan stuff -slight changes but works in/with many.

I wish they would fix the search function here.

Any how info I dug up I saved in my file cabinet website. That nos piston 530069547 with the superseded number 530071321

The cylinder # that came back to type 1 3450. Thinking about it in my sleep it couldnt be. No impulse nipple and transfers different. Again I found info. Glad I left that place open just for saving the info to. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/poulan/poulan-336-54cc-cylinder/

I was able to pick up a nice 4000 last week. Cleaned it up and put the edge back on the chain, and it cuts real well.
Thinking I should take my bow off my 3400 and put it on this saw instead.

What have I got here guys? Going to be my soon to start on project. It’s says Poulan pro, but a lot points to pioneer. I’m not up on my company history, but it looks like a cool saw.

Get a 3400 and put a bow on it, save that 4000 in it nice pretty condition.
Once you cut the case and cover, you don't want to put a bar back on it. You will have to run the chain with less slack so the chain doesn't hit the lower brace. They make a different handle brace for bows but haven't see any for sale.

Very rare saw in North America. Quite a few I think in Australia. It's pretty much the same as the Poulan 655BP which is a very desirable saw.
Well worth restoring as you will have a very rare Pioneer Partner based saw saw. 98cc saw and very powerful.

The AF cover on the saw is not labelled as the correct one. It's not the Poulan variant by name only. It should be labelled as "Pioneer Partner"

Great score!

I already have a 3400 with a bow on it. I was just thinking the 4000 would be a better choice for the bow. I didn’t have to cut the case for the bow, only had to modify a clutch cover, and I have quite a few of those on hand.

I made or modified the lower handle brace to fit the bow, but have since found a NOS brace for use with it.

I thought it would be a good combo, but I wouldn’t make any changes to the 4000 that could not be reversed. Took me too long to find it!

You sure you don't have to cut the case for chain clearance.

I didn't change anything on the 3400 other than cutting the clutch cover away on the top for clearance, and cobbling up a lower handle brace. But I should tell you that I have not seen a genuine factory installed setup with a bow either. I might snap a few pictures this afternoon to have you take a look. I'm sure you and @acornhill know much more about these rigs than I do, so now I might just leave the 3400 with the bow. I only run it occasionally anyway.

The last one I got looked factory to me, has original paint in the cut out in the case and cover.
