How do you guys have your tool boxes organized?
I just bought a big Craftsman cabinet style box and am looking for the best way to set it up.
Socket organization seems to be a particular problem but not the only one.
Pics if you got em.
Thanks-

This is what organization looks like after 30 years. Impact sockets on top.
Metric sockets and 1/4 drive sockets in another drawer.
3/8 drive sae in another drawer.
1/2 drive sae in another drawer.
Metric wrenches in 1 drawer.
Sae wrenches in the next 2 drawers.
The stuff on the wall, I got tired of digging for in drawers.
If you try to organize real pretty, you are playing with your tools, not using your tools to play.P1020076.JPG P1020068.JPG P1020069.JPG P1020070.JPG P1020072.JPG

Try as I might I've never been able to reach any degree of organization .I've got three big boxes at the house and something like 30 at my shop .It's never a question of if I have a tool but rather where the H is it .In addition my "window " is very short .If I can't find it Lowes is only about 10 minutes away .

Should go check out garagejournal.com forum and search the 'show us your toolbox' thread. Hundreds of pics with infinite ideas/options. Lots of talk on socket rails, plied racks, wrench racks etc. Some pretty amazing well stocked tool chests.

My brothers Shop certainly is a working shop if 35 years of just knowing where it is Qualifies He has it but "Where did I leave that?" or "Who put this here?" or Who moved it?" 4 employees keep him busy.

Huh, I figured out that the less lumber in the shop, the more room I have for my woodworking machines. I finished using up a 1400 foot stack of white oak a couple years ago.

BTW I do have a wood lathe and adjustable lay out table in another garage on a rental property I own .The table is neat .It's the bottom of a hospital gurney with foot powered hydraulic lifts, fore and aft with the top of an 8 foot pool table . I can raise it up or lower it for like running lumber through a planer or ripping with a table saw .Takes up a lot of room though .That dang cheap table has like 2" thick some kind of fiber board which is really heavy .Neat part is it's straight as an arrow .You can glue stuff, let it dry and pull the clamps off and it does not move at all .
