So instead of building a saw how abouts we pool the money up and send @Mastermind and the Bubba LLC to the buckin fest? That way real saws are ran properly and Randy won't be home watching the rental swine.

Other wise I wouldn't give BBR a PBR he's got the cash.

Wow. You could be right.

But....I'd bet my farm that after taking it to the woods one time, he would never let Harvey near it.
Be a good test for BBR s' character
Might be the plane ticket you offered IH be diverted to BBR.
What kind of results would be hard to predict but he would get a feel for a PORTED SAW (several of 'em)
If he is "Normal" like us :campeon2:he couldn't help but Jabber all about his enlightening experience. Might change some of his Uch TUBE shinannigans .
Just a Thought -- like a fart, No one would notice it If I didn't put it out there.

BBR is (at least his YT persona) all about random acts of kindness. So I think you’re reasoning here is good.

Like him or not, he has pretty broad influence among a lot of folks who run saws.

More ideas:
1). Here’s another way to market this. He typically does an unboxing when a significant gift comes in. Include a note explaining what all was done to the saw. Mail it and ask if he will run it on his channel and then have it auctioned off at Buckinstock to support the charitable cause for which Buckinstock exists. That would add another leg of shipping but so what once we’re in this deep.

2). Skip BBR and apply the concept to another YTer. Build a saw for different saw community “influencer” (Hunicke, Human, Logger Wade, etc)....ask that they run it on their channel for a while to create some awareness, and then auction off to a charitable cause. Turner Logging doesn’t have a huge subscriber base, but they are one of my favorite channels.

Why bother with any of this? Just general good will, PR, and promotion of quality work. People are watching. Even if they aren’t commenting here or on YT.

I’m in for $20 if anything comes of this effort.

Absolutely

Honestly we've in a way already been through this type of stuff before, and all that really happens is a giant pissing contest, back and forth back and forth.

IMHO the best thing to do is what's already been done to some extent, that is keep things on the level, when we see BS call it that, when and if people are take for a ride, do our best to make those responsible accountable best we can. Other than that the *a-holes out there tend to get their comeuppance eventually.

To quote a famous movie line "...deserve's got nothing to do with it."

This isn't about anything else but... our boss monkey was called out, our most upright members called liars, can we get behind the Big Monkey when he needs us or do we leave him hang in the wind?
Saw builds is our one way of helping fixeded things when they go wrong after all.

Now don't be gettin' all skeered...OPE will provide a young, mean-lookin', eyebrow squenchin', Gummi Bear-sized bodyguard for ya. It's what the YTubers do...

Jason...I think you know that I'm neither scared, or in need of a bodyguard. LOL

I wonder if they do any saw racin' at this buckinstock place?

Good question.

They didn’t race any last year as the place they were at didn’t allow much saw time. My understanding is that it’ll be the same place it was originally so they’d be able to race them. It’s a lot more than saws now and after last year idk how much good it would do to send a saw there. I think the point would be missed.

If this idea has a chance of creating the desired affect I think it needs to be hand delivered to Buckin after an explanation of what brought it about so he understands what he’s getting into.

I have a hard time believing he doesn’t know something about what’s going on. I do believe if he knew the real story he’d distance himself from Harv because that’s not how he does things.

To be clear I’m not a groupie, I don’t worship BBR. I’ve watched him a long time, learned a ton and met him personally. All the peace and love stuff is a bit much for me. I understand what we’re trying to accomplish here. I think....lol.

I also agree with using another YT logger to promote this. Maybe a smaller one to get them going. Those of us that have channels could perhaps lead people to it. I feel like there needs to be a visible counter to all the IH BS, lies and cons. I’ll drive or fly anywhere to be a part of it, throw in on a saw etc.

Maybe at the GTG we could do a group thing. Perhaps that’s too long to wait as things will have cooled off.

One more thing I’ll throw out....I have no issue with getting ahold of Buckin and talking to him about this. See what he knows and go from there. He may just want to wash his hands of it all, not want to get in the middle or could be of the mindset that we’re all over here drinking the cool aid waiting on the next eclipse to bring us a spiritual connection to our power saws.

Oh and one more comment. A few pages back it was mentioned to build a saw then raffle it for one cause or another. I think that’s a great idea. Raffle, silent auction etc. No better way to get some positive vibes going than to help somebody while also giving a deserving somebody the ol California howdy.
