I picked up one of those today actually. Cant wait to tear it apart
I like it,super simple to work on, in these cuts it had the 3/8 7tooth rim sprocket, I'm gonna swap it over to a 325 just because that's what all my other small saws are. It pulled it decently though.

Stupid hard sugar maple with grain going every which way. It was throwing noodles through part of it lol. New Archer off the roll seemed to leave a bit on the table. I went in and checked afterward and the rakers were at .022”. But it didn’t seem to stretch.
First cuts on new saw

A very stupidly hard piece of oak. We shoulda saved it for sumfin useful like a mantle. I used it to punish a few little saws.

Echo 360WES muffler mod
Makita 4300 ported
Stihl MS241 ported
Stihl 044 ported
Husqvarna 288XP muffler mod mostly(slightly ported sorta)
All out of the box factory chains.

That 288 is running an 8 pin rim, with cleaned up ports and super gutted muffler, is lower RPM in the wood than the 044, but it is pulling like a freaking freight train the whole time with 32 inches of semi chisel. The 044 is running 84dl full chisel and a 7 pin ported using popular #s from here. The 4300 Makita/421 DOlmar has mini finger ports sprouting from the primaries and port work. It seems to keep it competitive with the ported 241(which is running 325 full kerf on 16- the Makita is running Picco on a 15). That 241 has partially compromised stratos, too. It's a strong saw for 42cc's. It feels a bit stronger than the 4300 i the wood, but that 4300 is on it's first tank!

Lol. Funny til needed.
Tell us about the saw. Nice.
I pray I never need it!
The saw is a 395 that I bought and ported 10 years ago nothing super crazy, I never even checked the port timing on it. Just dropped the base gasket, widened the exhaust to about .030 of the sides of the Piston skirt and raised the exhaust the thickness of the gasket about .016. It has been run some but not abused it's still blowing 200lbs of compression. I generally only break it out for the Halifax county Heritage festival or when I run into something really big like this oak. Bar is a 42 running skip and an 8 pin sprocket.
