This has been an ongoing problem. Apparently the valve lifter can clip the ACR mechanism, I have heard of the lifter being trimmed a small amount on a lathe to provide extra clearance. They were supposed to have redesigned the cam but it seems the problem persists. As Barfly suggests do the head...
Our asparagus season is pretty much done but I had some good feeds, the local boys know how to grow the best. Local potatoes, carrots and a wild salmon fillet done to perfection for me tonight. Um um!
Canned gas such as MotoMix or Aspen is supposed to stay fresh for two years once the can is open. A good 2 stroke oil such as Stihl contains a stabilizer, adding more won't really help much. My saws haven't run for over three years so will likely need carb kits and fuel lines.
Having worked for Stihl dealers over the years I am surprised these people got away with predatory practices for so long. I don't blame Stihl, they want to maintain high standards and a level playing field for their dealers. It wasn't all sweetness and light though. They would sell cut off...
The safety switches can be bypassed for troubleshooting purposes but DO NOT leave them disabled, they are there for a reason. In the event of an injury from following your advice the site could be sued.
A nurse walked into the bank, picked up a deposit slip, pulled a rectal thermometer out of her purse and started to write. When she realized what she was doing she looked at the astonished teller and without missing a beat said "Isn't that just great. Some ******* got my pen."
I was given a saw that his dad had thrown in the shed because it would never cut. Chain was on backwards. An acquaintance acquired an IEL two man that sat for many years for rhe same reason. He actually got it running!
I am now retired but worked in shops for years and witnessed some doozies. One of the funniest was a guy who brought in a Stihl 041 bought at an auction for half the price of a new one. It wouldn't start, had been straight gassed. He sucked it up and paid for the repairs. A few days later he...
We are almost neighbours, I am in Enderby. It is a small farming/logging community and pretty quiet for the most part. We get the usual drug fueled petty crime although they sometimes play rough. Lots of forestry roads to explore and hunt, more lakes than one could fish in a lifetime.
Finger trouble, didn't finish my previous post and can't edit it. Anyhoo, I couldn't resist a 10-10A that looks like it has been hardly used. I put fresh gas in, fiddled with it a bit to get started and now it goes on one pull. I also have a monster 797 that I have yet to work on, it is the only...
Old Homelites seem to follow me home. I have a blue XL-12, three XL-76 which were very popular here and an SXL-922 that runs well but needs a bar. The XL-76's are interesting, seemingly identical saws but three different ignition systems. Made one runner out of them, it starts like a champ but...
