    Echo 2511t.. Thoughts?

Adjustment of _HIGH_ idle speeds (6K-10K) is already in the effective range of the H jet, there is no mistake. It is not only to get to the temperature but also to bypass (turn off) active idle mode. Otherwise during adjustment process the engine will not react to L changes until the setting is...

    ECHO Echo, Echo, Echo

The leverage comes from the chain and the bearing sits right on the plane of the chain rotation. If you consider the clutch+bell complete thickness (let's disregard half of the sprocket) around 10mm, then by inverting the clutch one way or another, this is the distance by which the point of...

310->310 no change :) Inboard, "plasticky" entry level saw. 352-> gets a 3510 which replaces it ant 370. Lighter saw (lightest of it's kind), +15% of power, -8% of weight. 370-> 3510 changed to outboard. Lighter saw (lightest of it's kind), +9% of power, -24% of weight. 400/420-> 4010 was...

    Echo 490 to ported 4910…to cs-5484

It is not a mistake and that bit there is left by a reason. The ports are cut very precisely, using electric discharge method. In case you'd still think it's production limitations - that very method is used on some other ECHO engines and the little protruding bits are not there :)

That’s a bit of combination of internet assumptions :) 501 is essentially a Shindaiwa. On the other hand 2511 is pure Yamabiko (although yep, originally targeted at Japanese/European markets, just like the recent 4310)

That’s the nowadays reality of saws. MS 271 is 774GBP and husky 450 is 659 GBP

Difference between CS 620 and CS621

Not sure if I have them laying around but will look for today.

Difference between CS 620 and CS621

It is at the same spot. The pin metal is treated for higher heat resistance though. Here’s the pic of both pistons side-by-side.

Difference between CS 620 and CS621

Addition: Piston top wall is also reinforced :D Also 621 received captive bar nuts, but that was also applied for 620.

Difference between CS 620 and CS621

Different parts are: Cylinder (different porting) Timing map (adjusted to porting) Piston (ventilated, different coating) Piston pin, clips (higher thermal durability) Pin bearing (higher thermal durability) Rings (different size, coating) Exhaust (different internal layout) Although it lost...

Yamabiko has 4310/501/7310 heated versions in domestic market. 501 in this configuration is also sold in Europe.

4920 is generally the same chassis as 4510, filter & clutch/brake assembly is the same part set.

CS-550 has a 34mm stroke vs 37,6mm of 590-621 so even if bolt pattern would fit the rest of the project is pretty complicated. They look very similar due to the same starter and few other parts used but there is a bunch of differences and most of the saw is different.

Probably some sort of misunderstanding as I definitely was not intending talking down to anyone (not English native anyway, so things probably happen). I apologize if it sounded this way. Also I don't really feel upset (why should I?). Not sure about the complex thing too :) As for 490...

CS-4910 is just a 501SX with plastic handle & rear grip, simpler spark plug connector, stainless steel sprocket guard plates and laminated bar. US-only, regardless of online ads. Shindaiwa 490 is actually an older thing derived from 488 (produced from 1988) while the 501 history looks like this...
