    SOLD Stihl MS400

Why no trademark symbol on the recoil emblem? Reason I ask is because I just bought a secondhand 400, and I almost shat myself once I got it home and noticed the same on my saw......I don't THINK mines a fake???

Changing Oil Mix Ratios - Do I Have To Retune?

For me, as said before, depends on the temp and oil being used. Redline oil at 32:1 at 10degF ambient, the mix is so thick it has a harder time making its way thru the jets and the saw ran very lean. At those temps I use snowmobile oil and works just fine @32:1. Castor, for me, did the same at...

First time porter, want to do my 036 - numbers for a mild build?

First time porter, want to do my 036 - numbers for a mild build?

Hi guys, a novice local porter is going to hold my hand while I attempt my first saw. I'll start with dialing the squish to ~.020". I won't be machining the head, just the cylinder base. He mentioned 1 to 2 degrees on the exhaust, open the lowers as much as possible and take the intake up 10...

Advice on a new chain grinder

Man, I'm in the same boat! I have spent a year with my super jolly and am ready to go the next level. Don't get me wrong, this grinder has paid for itself 3 times over in the past year and i do like it, but the "slop" since day one has just been bugging me. One option is for me to make all new...

    Confusion on rings for 361

    Confusion on rings for 361

Hi guys, I attempted to order rings for my 361 from the local Stihl dealer - apparently a minimum of 4 week backorder. So now I'm contemplating aftermarket Caber rings, however I'm reading that some folks like the Cabers, others mention that the Cabers are hard and not recommended....or am I...

New ring after base gasket mod?

Hi guys, will be doing lowering my cylinder approx 12 thou.... squish currently at ~.030, would like to get to ~.018ish....... Stihl 361 with fairly low hours (less than 10 gallons). Since the ring (s) will be heading into virgin territory, replace them or run it? Thanks for any info!
