I’m pretty sure that video was taken just a few miles down the road from my house. I foolishly took my stock 3rd Gen through that a few years ago. Then I had to turn around and take it back down. That was the last joy ride I took my daily driver on. Rear diff has some love marks now.
I was able to get a 151 to keep up with my 2511. I’ve tweaked the echo recipe since then. I haven’t done as many 151 but I can’t see how I would get them up to the current 2511.
Still not a ported 201 though. Especially a V3.
Dcs2500 is the battery version of 2511. If you want a battery trim saw it’s pretty amazing. It doesn’t have the balls for removals.
If you want a removal saw, ported 2511. Also trims well but you have to start it.
Your ported 201 is all the saw you need in the 35cc department. It’s dead...
I have an AFE setup on my 3rd Gen. My only complaint is the filters are expensive. Some people say they want a filter housing with a window, but mine looks clean even when it’s dirty, so it might not help.
I have a cheapo set off eBay. I can’t recommend it. The threads are too soft.
On mufflers, make sure you use steel inserts. The alloy and aluminum ones can’t handle vibration.
Stihl is a pain for parts. Ebay is usually best. Your dealer is often cheaper for in-stock parts. They usually charge a lot for shipping on special order.
That is a first generation 201t. It will benefit from a muffler mod, timing advance and carb limiter delete. It doesn’t look that beat up for a production climbing saw. Definitely get a new filter cover. Also pull the clutch cover off and shoot a picture of that. The plastics under the...
046 is slightly larger, heavier and more powerful. If the fuel tank needs replaced it will cost. $300-450 is a ballpark for a good deal. 046 is worth more than 044.
That blue goo at the cylinder gasket isn’t stock. Somebody has been in there.
Cylinder looks good except for that hole in the plug threads. I would get a new piston (meteor or OEM). Fuel lines, filter, carb kit. Check the crank bearings extremely carefully. New seals won’t hurt.
The serial...
There are multiple threads on AS about the 268 piston in a 372. Unfortunately that place has gone to the dogs.
I’ve done both slab and windowed. The slab feels stronger but neither holds a candle to a machined and ported 372 with the full circle slug.
