Dreaded cordless saws in a wild land conservation setting

@Woodpecker right on. I figured it might be something like that. What I was working on last week was some unstable stuff caught up in a fence, solo. Trying to stay on the ground in a good position. Hopefully I only need the pole for small stuff going forward. @tek9tim most of my saw work here...

Dreaded cordless saws in a wild land conservation setting

@Maintenance Chief I love the battery sawzalls. They are clutch in construction, out here in conservation lands, and while driving off-road. This week I'm on the same preserve, but heading north instead of south cleaning up the boundary. I ordered a couple of the 14" Tsumura bars and some...

Dreaded cordless saws in a wild land conservation setting

Thanks for all of the info folks. I have a new bar and chain on the way for the "big" electric. We'll see how they do. I also ordered the 18V x2 power head, extension and pole saw attachment. I'll let y'all know how it goes. I'll also grab some photos I've taken of the stuff I see and will share...

Dreaded cordless saws in a wild land conservation setting

@Mastermind It sure looks like it will take just about anything. Currently looking at .050 bars that I won't need to modify oil holes. @Guido Salvage what all do you want to know? We do a lot of flow and dye trace testing. Practically all of central Texas is connected underground, so it's...

Dreaded cordless saws in a wild land conservation setting

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. I'll definitely have to check out the Stihl chain once I find a good bar to run. The sprocket on these saws is pretty weird. I'm not sure why the went the way they did with rim sprockets being the norm. They definitely take some getting used to. Chain...

Dreaded cordless saws in a wild land conservation setting

I've been a long time lurker, and figured it was about time I contribute. I am a local conservation ranger in a wildland conservation division. One of our main programs is endangered species and habitat protection/restoration. We have somewhere over 50,000 acres of non-public access preserves...

So what did you buy today

I sure hope so. We have a lot of work to do, and no more new saws until the bean counters can pull their heads out. Personally buying a couple hopefully good used saws so we can continue making progress. A very tired 441 an old 590 and my ported 590 just aren't enough.

So what did you buy today

Picked up a heavily used, but great running 044. Don't see them much around here. Missing a couple bolts, and may need a new tensioner and av. I'll tear it down, clean it up, and see what's what.
