A while back I asked about a Hyway pop up piston. Ordered one, cleaned up the cylinder, installed it, went to attach the muffler, and realized there was a broken screw in it. My broken screw removal skills are not so good. Broke a left hand bit, got the hole off center and wallowed out. May be repairable, but not by me. So I ordered a new OEM cylinder kit. The question I have is, which piston to run. Hyway pop up or OEM. Saw is not for trade just to add to my collection.

I can weld up the aluminum exhaust flange if you want. Or if you want to sell me the cylinder let me know.

Why? I have no problem using one for a couple of days, then pulling the saw down & putting the other piston in & try that I've pulled a saw down 3 times in two days just to change something.

Does anyone know anything about the LilRedBarn pop up piston? He says ‘not made in Taiwan or China’. It looks different from the Hyway pop up piston.

I just messaged and asked where it was made.
I had one experience with Lil Red Barn. It was all good. They were the only place I could find a piston for a closed port 55. Piston looked fine when I got it. Put it in and we ran the saw for I believe it was 2 seasons of firewood'n. Zero issues.

I ask where they were made and they said they are made in the European Union, but did't say the country.

If someone says “made in the EU”, they are being deceptive, don’t you think? There’s 28 countries to narrow it down by, without getting specific about anything. And what is there to hide really? I’d bet they are trying to up-sell them: I’m sure those with experience with Meteor will jump to the conclusion they are made in Italy. The reality is they are probably made in Turkey, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Czech Republic or one of Thom other far eastern countries. So the question is, is that better than China?

You could be right.

A BG delete should get you near that compression with the OEM piston. My 357 blows 190psi without a gasket even after raising the exhaust 5*.
