Stopped in at the John Deere/Stihl dealer yesterday for the first time in months. Hoped to see the latest. Salesman said he hadn’t heard of a 462. Had to look it up. He said the fuel injected ones hadn’t come in yet. I said that ‘that’ is a different model. He looked ‘it’ up and said “sometime next year”.

Edit: That price does not include the Federal 5% GST (Officially the Goods and Services Tax, but in reality the Gouge and Screw Tax) and the various Provincial Sales taxes, currently 6% here in Saskatchewan.

I saw a 462 in Statesville, NC today. Its about $1,100+ tax, $60 more for a light weight bar.

Our old JD dealer is the same way. The dealer I have switched to is an Ag and Equipment dealer so they carry pro grade saws for the loggers that buy the skidders and other logging equipment. They have had the 462 and I haven’t asked about the 500i.

My JD only has up to a 391. They might have an 880 abrasive saw (it looked big).

That’s steep, my dealer has the 462 Arctic available for $1225 with a 24” bar. So around $930 usd.

I can get one for about $1050 delivered with bar and chain. Or, $1050 delivered with wrap and big clutch cover PHO.

Some dealers aren't worth walking across the street. Local Husky dealer - 572xp would be my next stop.

In Australia they go for A$1,900 plus another 10% for Goods and service tax.

Took these the other day, "Steal" sure is proud of their products and reflects that on their pricing.

That day I left with two Stihl chain boxes and two Stihl 5.5mm round files.
A day later I placed an order for some small items and left with a Stihl flat file.

My valet is too thin to afford Steal saws, I'll stick with Dolmar -I should have enough to last me my life time.

I bought my new 7301 with heat for about half the cost of a 462 in your country.

Remove the SLR/CAT out of a PS-7310/EA7301 and I think it may outrun a MS462 stock for stock MM only.

It’s as strong as a muffler modded 572xp in stock form. The 572xp and 462 cut about the same speed stock. Performance definitely isn’t a reason to pick the 462 over the other two. Of course we know there is more to a saw than just cutting fast. Personal preference comes into play as well.

< that right there pretty much sums it up .Brand loyalty is like a Ford/Chevy --John-Deere /Farmall thing .It's what ever floats your boat once you cut to the chase .
