Hi all! I’ve been poking around OPE since I stumbled across the forums about a month ago. I was in the process of converting my 029 super into a 039, and found so much good advice without having to ask a single question. Thanks for all your guys’ time in posting and explaining what you all do. The “039” had about 4 hrs on the the rebuild and seems to be breaking in ok so far.

Welcome to the site
I did several of those in the past five year's
They're still running
One is a firewood seller's primary saw
Has tons of hour's on it.

Thanks for the friendly warnings haha... I regret getting the no name cyl/piston that I grabbed off of A-zon. Is it weird that I’m hoping it dies so I can have the excuse to rebuild it with better parts haha. Just need it to get me through the wood season, fingers crossed.

Welcome to the nut house! That 390 will serve you well. I wouldn't worry about rebuilding it again. You'll be convinced to own a 462 or a 500i by Christmas if you hang out here too long! :D

I can’t wait to try the 500i
I just came into an older model 246xp that needs a new top end, not sure what else, but the guy I work with just has it in his shed just sitting for about 8yrs now. Said I can take it! So I will.!!! Never ran Husqvarna, I’m looking forward to it

Welcome,
Already on your second saw that doesn't even run yet and lusting after a third, I'm sorry to have to be the one to say this, but you're too far in to save. Best of luck with your disease with no known cure.

I currently own 2 saws. The 029 “Super Sport” and an 018 with a .50 gauge 16”bar. So if I follow the advice in LOMartin’s sig, then I really only have 1 saw at the moment, and that’s just not ok!! I burn firewood, I’m not a mechanic, I’m just too cheap and broke to pay for someone else to fix my stuff.... but I do enjoy taking saws apart and knowing them inside and out.

Welcome, 246 is an excellent saw. Try to save that cylinder if at all possible.
