So.......who is that guy?
He has a tree service on Vancouver Island BC but is a long time logger. He's on History Channel's AxMen this season but has been on youtube making videos for more than 3 years now. He's friends with Bobby Walker and has a few videos with Bobby talking about the old days of saw racing and stuff.

Hotter than two mice F-ing in a wool sock in a fleece lined drawer.... So I haven't stuck it in wood yet.

Sounds nice with the "birdcage" removed and outlet opened, but I'm sure it'll sound better with a second outlet added.
Have not modded the carb yet either.

Fit a hd6 or hd12 off a 371/372 on it if your gonna swap carbs. They feed a little more fuel.

The zama feeds plenty of fuel. The HD has a half mm bigger venturi so it flows more air
I don’t disagree with that, my 7900 runs flawlessly with a zama with just thinned shafts. However I found the Walbro doesn’t lean out as much in long cuts. At least on the Low side jet. When I tested the HD6 vs the zama on the 6400, it was a smidge faster with the walbro, not by much but the difference was there. Worth the performance gain and $ to swap carbs? Hmmm... idk.

Could be the way each carb was tuned or how well one or the other was matched to the individual saw. I could feel a difference in power with the HD, but always felt the saw ran fine with the zama too.

Was thinking the poleman mod on the stock carb, cause the porting is nothing crazy.
I built this saw to keep as my "60-80cc" saw.
Have a 394, a 661,a 385, then the Smurf down to 60, have a few 550's, 350/346's, 359 and..... Lots of other lil fellers that I need to find new homes for.

If you like the dollies I don't see the 385 sticking around unless you have some personal attachment to it, this saw will push it out of the lineup unless its a spare for this class.

The only advantage the 385/390 have over a 7900 is the torque advantage and stronger chassis/av for longer bars. Other than that I like the 7900 better. It uses less fuel too. Our 390 is a powerhouse in big oak, but it likes it’s fuel and she ain’t lite obviously... so it only comes out for big wood most of the time.
