My only saw for many years was an 029 Super. I cut a lot of wood with it, and only had to replace the fuel line and filter one time. I realize now that the AV and power to weight were pretty poor compared to pretty much any pro saw in the same cc range, but it was really a good saw for me.

I'm not a huge stihl fan except for loving my 038's, but the only saw I had for a long time was an 023. If I would have been part of an Internet forum at the time, I would have never bought it after listening to what a POS they are. But that saw never let me down, and I cut a hell of a pile of wood with it. A lot of it much bigger than the saw was designed to cut.

It makes me laugh when I see guys who have never even used one, call down an 029, or a ms250, or a 455 rancher, wild thing.... whatever. They'll all cut wood.

I like Husky now because I find them easier to work on, easier for parts, and i dislike Stihls way of doing business. They want every damn part to be proprietary, don't want you to have manuals, IPLs etc etc

I've had Stihl 018,021,026,200,201,261, Jonsered 2147,2153,2253.
I got a couple Husky 242 for a year ago and they open up my eyes, I drive long distance to grab a new 2xx project nowadays.
3xx serie doesnt interest me so much, probleby because everyone else has them.

LOL! this is the best test. yep, just run them over. which ever one runs after is the best. in this pic the truck is parked on a 40% incline. doesn't look like it but it's your eyes playing tricks on you. that stihl is holding it's own!

i work where both brands are beat to hell and they both run just as long it seems other then the odd lemon. what really chaps my ass is some of the die hard stihl guys who know nothing about saws and run husky once only to have a kill switch not work, bolt vibrate lose or something and label husky for the rest of their lives. makes for some interesting arguments in camp lol. pretty easy to make a fool of someone who doesn't know what he's talking about though. maybe it's just me knowing how to keep a husky running or maybe the guys dissing them are just *s-word talkers? i mean sure i have had a kill switch fail or a choke lever but very rarely and other then that they run til their death just like a stihl but handle and look way better doing it :p carb removal on any saw should not take anymore then 5 minutes for someone who knows what they are doing. there is only one answer to someone who think stihls are easier to work on. it's quite simple. they haven't worked on a husky lol most of them are easy to work on if a guy knows what he is doing. not saying stihl is crazy hard to work on they are just more difficult. a guy who has only removed a carb or a muffler on a stihl would not know what i'm talking about. i run all saws, just more huskies because i like the way they handle :)
I don't know, Shane... it took me 6 minutes to pull the carb off an 036 the other day. ;)

I've found that the Dolmar/Makita 6400-7900 saws are pretty simple to work on, as well.

I'm thinking I might use a block of wood, maybe even a stone, to chock that...

I own both brands of saws and have one Echo ported by Randy that will hold its own. I own more Husqvarnas so I usually pick up a 262 or 346 when cutting.I lean towards Huskies.

670 is kinda like 268/266 and 630 is kinda like 61, correct?
Same jugs?
The jugs are similar between the Jreds and Huskys, but use a different intake setup.

The 630 has the same intake set up the 266 has,It's a closed port cylinder so it makes more power,
my 266 is closed port, in it's life I had been clip scored once. If there is any JRed who could be bolted on it would be nice to know. I really dont have much knowledge when it comes to old JRed.

I like some from booth brands, 346xp is my favorite saw overall, but I will take an 044 any day over a 372xp, I have owned 5 of them and just dnt like the feel of any of them, I would even take a 365 special over a 372xp, just feels right. But for price difference Dolmar is tough to beat, weigh a little more but quality machines for sure. If I had to pick a single line up it would be 3rd Gen Husky. Jmo

Just bullspit.....

Good afternoon. I'm going to build a house in the country. We plan to make the future house out of logs, but there were problems with choosing a tool. Which saw is best to choose for building a house, preferably a model? Landmark of Husqvarna or STIHL. But I don’t understand which one to take. Who has experience or practice? Or suggest your optionsftsyuvas.jpg 8.8 KB 3048 views
