You guys down south have to be getting close to the beginning of the snake territory? If not where does that start?

There are rattlers here in the dry, rocky areas. Quite a few in some areas, actually. I haven’t ran into a whole lot of them, thankfully. Yellow jackets and hornets have been bad on this new job, however.

Always wondered what time you guys are starting out there? Myself between 2 to 4 am, on a side note saw the first loaded truck at 3 headed to town.

Right now, I am starting the saw around 5:30, and I leave my place at 3:40 to go get @HYPERSAWS. It’s just a little too dark before 5:30. Earlier in the year, we were leaving my place at 2:45 and starting at 5:00 at the coast. The job we are on now is only about an hour and 15 minutes from the house.

I always enjoy your pictures. Looks pretty steep. Do you get to dump em and run?
Yeah, they use a dangle-head or a stroker to process them at the landing. We will generally buck a tree if it is over 24 inches to make it more easy to handle. However that is highly dependent on the equipment, terrain, taper, and height of the timber. Some loggers want to pull in 30 inch tree-lengths, and some highly frown at it.

Right now early is a good thing, some of the guys get a little crazy with the early hours and the trucks have to wait 3 or 4 hours in front of the gates.

With my kids being older it's harder to get out of bed then ever. Typical night is watching them play ball until 9-930, get home around 10, grind chains and get gear ready, in bed around 11-1130.

That would be fun. So are you hourly or day wage then?

I feel you there thank god mine are still young but it’s part of it out here you miss some of that stuff or I guess look for a different profession. Most of the mills right now open by 5 or 6 and are only open till 3 so get enough out a day takes an early morning.
