I have an early 80s XL-12 that I need some parts for to make a runner again. It has the dreaded Blue coil, and doesn't have spark. Looking for a good used coil, or NOS if the price is right. Not in a big rush at the moment, but wanting to get so.e feelers out there and try. Thanks.
Mike

Could any of you gentlemen who is this saw. I was mowing the lawn and found it out by the side of the road with a few other things so I grabbed it I already have an XL 12 runner And just pocked it up just because. No idea what parts are good or bad.

It is a Super XL the 59cc automatic oil version of the XL-12. It is a 1986 model, probably still has the blue prestolite ignition, I think the switched to the Phelon in late 88’. Looks to be pretty clean unit. Good score. How is the piston look? If you need the handle and side cover I have several of both.

The parts somewhat cross over, the Super XL is an upgraded XL-12 with auto oiler and a slightly larger displacement. Would make a great saw for you. @KYsawman was very fair daling with me, would be a good resource to get you another great saw going.

@timg I believe I got all the parts I am looking for, however @mirage is still needing a few. Been talking he needs the air filter lid, and a new oil tank. His bar studs are stripped out. Maybe you or @KYsawman can help him out and locate some parts and pieces.

Mike

Go for it Kentuckysawman. If you still need more parts let me know. I may be able to help. I know you have a deep homelite honey hole behind your pick up truck tailgate!! LOL!! Also to the other OP. Good find on that Super XL. Just a suggestion to check for spark, good starter engagement, and like the KYsawman said pull the muffler and roll the engine to inspect piston/cylinder condition. Wouldn't hurt to look through the intake side also just to be sure of no ingestion of debris. These should give you an idea which way to go with it. Good night!!
